If I understand you correctly your receiver software has locked up, switch off the power for a few moments then back on. (presumably that's a reboot)
I've done it twice but cannot remember the exact sequence of epg/timer operation. It seemed to be related to timer as I've not had any problems with the epg alone (other than when the desired program is not listed).
I have also used the timer successfully (with much difficulty). I found I had to actually tune the required program before entering the timer setup because you cannot select it otherwise also, as with instant recording from the rectangular red button, you cannot turn the TM off because it won't wait for recording to finish!

Just to correct my statement above about selecting the program when setting the TM7102hd timer, it's necessary to press ok to be able to select the program. (that is as described in the user manual which I failed to read fully)

You can try putting the TM into a mini boot mode. Make sure the power is off - best wait 30-60 seconds.
Hold the MENU & SELECT buttons down , turn on the power - keep the buttons held down until the TM boots into a "safe" mode.
You may then be able to change various settings or at least factory reset.
