hi peeps looking to move from 5402 to 7102 hd i assume they are exactly the same but x2 sat tuners and x1 hd freeview is the only difference am i right to assume this?. i have a list Q's about configuration/set-up, ie: twin lnb with only 1 tuner driving dish? with 2 coax runs (1 to motor and 1 to stb) restricting tuner 2 to only look at chanels selected by tuner 1,(this is not a problem) have i gone crazy to think this ? more Q's to follow. thankyou DW my life bible :thnks::thnks:, timelord

I'd wait for Digidude to break his Alien and review properly before you decide to buy.

As with any twin tuner receiver, you can have one input from a motorised dish and another from another dish which could be a motorised/multi lnb setup. They will work independently.

cool, thanks AB i will take your advice and wait for digi's review, with twin tuners is there a prob. with providers ? are 2 subs reqd ? thanks once more.TL.

It depends on your provider. You will need to ask him/her. I have not had an issue with mine.

The big difference is that the 7102 has T2 support and revised hardware I presume (Digi ?)
The only thing that is really a let down for such a nice device is the poor ventilator which makes noise like hell. Sadly this is also the same for the tm5402hd.
I have mailed TM about this ([email protected]) but they never answered my question about a possible option for free replacement as this is not normal.

It is a ver nice satellite receiver that does it job but with a pricetag way over the current devices which makes it difficult to decide... I have mentioned it before the other markets have learned and have similar satellite receivers (even sub locked receivers !)

I would choose a TM because :
- DVB T & T2
- Easy edit of channels, backup of channels
- fast zapping, but beware others are catching up
- good stable recording
- patch with cccam/newcam client support, i would not count on EMU patch support as it is not ok.
- A very wide support for different original Sub smartcard
- A very good support for devices/cards/Ci-cam to play with (if still exist) gamma, diablo, ...
- Scart, hdmi, svideo, spdif, even uhf/vhf for old tv's
- jpg, mp3 support(never use it but it's nice)
- RAW recording .ts (not encoded), you can play the recordings on yr pc

Not good :
Noisy fan
gets very hot with Sata HD inserted (2.5 or 3.5 inch)
Does not work well with every type of Sata harddisk, choose wisely
This device is really missing an original TM firmware built-in Network Samba/FTP service to access the internal Harddisk remotely.

feel free to add yr comments

Hi manic,

then you are a lucky person as I had several (well every time i hand out a new one) tm5402hd with a noisy fan. But maybe I just want 2 much. I always put in OFF. So problem is solved :)
