Hello,

I wonder if someone can help me getting my head around the setup of a Tm-5402HD. I have two dishes installed on my roof, one for Astra 28.2E and one for Eurobird 13E. My receiver was previously setup for a motorised antenna, so I cleaned up the configuration to factory reset but I now can't get the hold of how to correctly configure it.

First of all, the two dishes have two separate leads. The two leads enter the house and connect to a Diseqc device with three connector, LNB1, LNB2, and the third connector (middle one) that connects to the receiver.

On the receiver, despite factory resetting the configuration I still have some satellites. What I would like to do is to scan both LNBs and get the full set of channels from both sources.

So far I took one of the satellites and configured manually Diseqc 1.0 setting it to 1 of 4; the LNB Frequency is set to 9.750 / 10.600; LNB Type is Universal and Diseqc 1.1 is set OFF.

I then exited the page and went to Blind Search. After a long scan,I ended up with 1049 channels. When I exit the configuration menu and press SAT, I can see the satellite I just configured in the list, and nothing else. The list of channels available appears to be from the 13E satellite/dish.

I then tried to repeat the process by choosing another satellite, hoping to get all the 28.2E channels. I selected another satellite from Satellite Setup, chose Diseqc 2, repeated the Blind Scan but have no channels and when I get back to the TV screen and press SAT I cannot see the additional satellite.

My simple questions are if the process described above is correct and, if not, can someone lead me through the correct procedure? All this of course is under the assumption that the TM5402HD doesn't necessarily need a motorised antenna to work - I hope I am correct!

Thanks for your help.

HI Raul
On the remote go to MENU,INSTALLATION, SATELLITE SETUP (after putting in the password)find your first satellite 28e, go down to Diseqc 1.0 change to 1 of 4 exit, will ask you to save, then do the same again for 13e but this time change to 2 of 4 exit / save. Then you should be able to carry out a search on each satellite. When you carry out your search make a note of the channels received against which port you are on, ie 1 of 4 may be 13e / 2 of 4 may be 28e or the way around.
Have a go and see how you get on, us members will advise you.

Hope this helps

Thank you Den.

When I open the menu /INSTALLATION/SATELLITE SETUP there aren't any 28E satellites in the list, just a bunch of 13E "virtual" satellites. I believe they were programmed this way to separate the groups you find on 13E (by language, say Italian, Russian, and so forth) so that by choosing a satellite via the SAT button you could rapidly access those channels.

The list was completed by a number of 0.0E entries so I accessed one of them, followed your instructions, set Diseqc 1.0 to 2 (the other channels were already set under Diseqc 1), and bingo!

I now have 900+ channels on 28.2E on top of the 1000+ that I found on 13E. I don't know how I managed to prevent the receiver from attempting to rotate the antenna however I can now select each satellite with pretty much instant access and no "hunting" delay.

The next issue I would like to resolve is that finding the channels takes some time. How can I improve this and what is the best way of creating groups of channels for easy access? Is creating virtual satellites the best way forward or would you recommend a different method?

Also, is there a way of deleting all those 13Es that I don't need and keep the two relevant ones?

Once again, thank you for helping.

I think the best way to sort this out so that you only have just the two satellites that you want to receive.
DO A FACTORY RESET, RESTORE DEFAULT CHANNELS, then set up the two satellites as per my first post.
You may wish to look at the user's manual page 3,page 4,page 5.
If you have not got a copy go to TECHNOMATE web site and download a copy and save to a usb.
