Can (or should) a TM5402HD keep a $ly card 'alive' beyond the six-week update period? Nothing dodgy like c/s or anything, just a 'holiday box' with a legit $ly SD subscription card.

Never tried it personally myself i know they do work once the box serial number is entered then it opens all channels, As for updating i cant see why not but too make sure i would try a FTV card first to see if it takes the Entitlement update and writes it too the card

with skys new update in place on a lot of box's your card may not even work in the box in the first place. Check it works first.

@digi247- I will try exactly that- no shortage of 'em now! I'll let you know how it goes.
@kegnkiwi AFAIK, these new updates only apply to HD. HD boxes now have 11-digit ESN's, 5402's can only take 10 :(

the TM5402HD uses C**am to update wheras the TM5302HD uses OS***. as suggested try the FTV card first but if your card is the new style or has had the dreaded updated your fooked either way in anything other than the official paired sly hd box, regards mdt

Thanks for that, I'm away to put one in now. Happily the card is from an old SD box, so hopefully no probs there (yet).

Quick question... If a subscription card is in a TM and you cancel the subscription will the box process switching off the channels on the card or will they continue to work?

That's what we about to find out I hope- but even if the box doesn't do it, the card will automatically expire after six weeks anyway if it doesn't receive its update.

I am a bit confused. I put an old SKY card in the TM 5402 HD M2 today expecting to be able to enter the box number of the original Sky box it was paired with into the Card+ option but all that does in display the card number. Can someone please advise where I can enter the SKY box number into the TM? Thx.
