Hi all,
Background:
After two very bad experiences with cowboy installers in London, I very recently found one who carried out the necessary work to upgrade my system to a motorised one in a professional manner, and without trying to rip me off in the process. Third time lucky!!!
As you can imagine I've been eager to find out about all the channels and satellites I could receive, and I've used the fantastic Lyngsat site for guidance about transponders, etc.
I'm new to this so, please forgive me if the following questions sound very basic to many of you.
Questions:
1) I've noticed that some satellites show transponders with 'R' and 'L' polarization. However, when I do an 'advanced search' on my Technomate 5402, the only options available are 'V' (Vertical) and 'H' (Horizontal). Can someone point me to a good source to find out more about this? Are the settings on my LNB or the receiver that determine which options I can see? Would I be able to pick up channels on 'R' or 'L' polarization? If so how?
2) Whilst going through the various satellites (to see which ones I can get), and using Lyngsat as a source to add new transponders or remove obsolete ones, I discovered that there were a few listed transponders, which I could not get a signal for (e.g. 36.0°E Eutelsat 36A/36B - Transponder: 11.655 - Symbol rate: 1.800. Lyngsat shows that there should be this 'Al Watheka TV Promo'). I did not take note of the others (and I'm not going through them again ) It's not a big concern as I don't speak/understand Arabic, but I'm just curious to know if it's just an error on the site or something else.
Thank you in advance.
