Hi guys,

Been reading about the TECHNOMATE TM-5402 HD, from what I understand this box sounds like the perfect machine!

As I understand it, this box can record 3 other channels whilst watching a 4 channel all from the same transponder?

It also has a full 7 day sly EPG.

It can timeshift.

And it can use C and N lines.

Is this really all true? Anyone have one of these boxes and can they recommend it? Im still trying to figure how it can record 3 channels whilst watching a 3rd all from 1 transpnder!

Also how good is the Sly EPG?

Thanks for any info.

with a transponder, the information for many channels is all compressed onto a single frequency (the transponder). for a lot of UK viewers, this is not really a big thing as there is too much choice, BBC for example can have 10 channels all showing the same thing on the same transponder, for different regions. but, some like transponder D10 carries 8 different music channels, you could watch one while recording another 3

the EPG contains the same information as the EPg on an official sly receiver, as it reads the same data, but it is laid out differently, youd have to create your own categories of channels, or view every one in an A-Z list

i have a 5402 that i play with, and the youtube access and net radio streamer, as well as PVR, and DivX and MKV playback make it excellent value for money

Thanks for that.

Is there any way to know what channels are on the 1 transponder when recording and watching so you can know if your recordings are going to be succesful or not?

Thanks.

when you are recording one channel any other channel you can browse too in your channel list at the same time will be on the same transponder and you could record it.They will be displayed in black as for the ones you can't watch while you are recording will be grey.

THanks, sounds like a really great little box and ticks most of what I want.

will be getting one of these.

THanks for the help guys.

when in the channel list, you can also press the yellow button, which lists all the stored transponders, then as you go through them one by one in the small window on the left of the screen, it tells you what channels are on that transponder on the right of the screen ;)

Can you stream from a networked pc to this machine? ie a pc with loads of movies etc on it?

thats being tweaked m8

go into file manager, press the yellow button (i think, labeled add or create) and put the IP of your chared PC

itll appear on the right, when you select this, itll say connecting to server

i did get it going on an older patch, not yet tried it on the latest 111p

Is the TM-6902 HD-T2 the same as the 5402 but with the extra DTT tuner or does it do anythong more/less?

Just thinking of paying that little bit extra to future proof the box just in case anything ever goes wrong with CS, at least ill still have a DTT/Freesat tuner!

Just on other thing, when patching does the latest patch include all the previous updates or do you need to install all patches?

Thanks.

Quick way is look at the EPG the ones that you cannot watch are grayed out and of course the others are still showing as normal. That of course only works as long as you keep the full list in and do not delete the channels that you do not use.

does the 5402 or 6902 run n lines ok ?
in anyones opinion better than the spiderbox as on the spider if you go to a fta channel like channel 5 for a while then go back to a $ channel it will not clear you have to turn line and network on and off to get it to clear it sort of disconects the line .
is the tm better then this and how do they run in general

n-lines work perfect on my 6902 like flicking through fta channels most of the time, sometimes it might take a few seconds for the unscrambling to kick in but this happens with official cards too, sometimes.

thanks thijss26
you can imagine say your watching cricket then change to channel 5 watch program on channel 5 go back to cricket will not clear untill you restart line and network on spiderbox happens with all the lines ive tried
so this is not a problem for the 6902 do you get the sly epg on this one or is it just the 5402
cheers

the 7-epg on astra 28.2 is on all 6000 super series+7000 series+5402hd
Do'nt forget it's programname only at the moment for 7-day epg and now and next full info
hopefully full info for all the 7-days in the near future.

The TM range 5402, 6800, 6900, 6902, 7100 and 7102 all work fine. I have never had to restart a line or network connection, the only problem I've seen was freeze ups and not clearing which was caused by a faulty cable modem. The epg has progressed rapidly over the last few months, we are now seeing a full 7-day epg with program description on now and next on most channels. These boxes are very supported with patches being made public very frequently. If you call Technomate technical, they are very helpful and you wont be hanging on the phone for ages going through some lame auto answering service. The boxes all look well made (the blue neons are a bit naff, but at least you can turn them off), the remote controls are good and look decent enough quality. Decent prices and all round good boxes.

The 5402 is lowest price and good value considering what you can do with it, add ons, recording, HD, etc..

EDIT - Super+ for 6800, 6900, 7100, non-supers dont have lan connectivity.
