Hi all, i just got my first Technomate box the tm500 super from a supplier that locks the boxes with a password (ftp password). It's been pre flashed with UR image, basically it was a plug and play box. So now i want to go in and edit files etc but i cant because of the password, i cant do the tuxbox trick as i need the password in order to launch tuxbox. I have tried both the default password of the box and the image but neither work, this is a password that my supplier put on the box, i don't know what it is and i can't contact him to find out.

What i would like to know is what i have to do to remove the password? From what i have read it is a case of starting from scratch, so will a factory reset remove any passwords, then if i re-flash the UR image can i do this over my network or do i have to use a null cable? I apologise in advance if i sound like an amateur, it's because i am!

I haven't just come on here and asked this without researching, i have spent days looking around various forums and i cant seem to find out if a factory reset removes any passwords.

Hope someone can offer me some advice

Many thanks Piemagic

Factory reset will remove your C: or N: line, just hold on for now mate, im sure this has been answered on another thread but cant seem to find it....

factory reset and re download of new image totally remove full history

press the yellow button, is there something there called Tuxcom, if not, press the blue button and see if you can download it. a long time ago a rouge image was released that did this to people receivers, so i wrote a tutorial on how to use tuxbox to remove the passwords, ill see if i can find it

Thank you all for your advise.

digidude, I came across your guide the other day when searching the net for a solution, it's a great guide so thanks for that. The problem i have though is when i press yellow i get this screen:

When i select tuxbox commander i get this screen:

I have tried all passwords i could find including the image password (blank), the default box password and the override code 2011 none of which work, i believe this is a password that my supplier put on to attempt to stop his customers from accessing the cline.

If i come out of that and press the blue button i get this screen:

If i then press blue again (panel) i get this screen:

Im guessing i have no choice but to reset my box, reflash it with the latest UR image, find a new server and edit the cccam cofig file via mini-web, but i just wanted someone who knows what they are doing to confirm it as i am still learning and don't want to brick my box, i paid quite alot of money for it and i've only had it 2 weeks (i know i must have MUG written on my forehead). I can't tell you how much i have read over the last week on this subject and im still not sure if what im thinking is correct lol.

sounds like local trader lol
reading lots on here lately about TM linux boxes being password locked :(

is a shame people buy the boxes off traders then come here when they are stuck, if only they bought the box from a shop then came here for help to get up and running :)

If i knew then what i know now i would have done exactly what you said. As mentioned before i am very new to this and im quickly learning from my mistakes, and i do really appreciate everyones input.

He's the prick who has been selling these boxes he has put his own root password in so no one can gain access and now has done a disappearing act.

piemagic I know nothing about the tm500 but the only way I could get my tm800 working was to re-flash it. Even if you do manage to gain access the cline you have will no longer work you will have to get another

Can this guy not be named and shamed to warn other people if he reappears.:grayno:

mate I wasn't criticising :) tbh I did the exact same many years ago lol but it was only £25 I lost :)
bought an OnDigital Card off ebay, went off within 2 weeks and found this place and back up and running again, that was 10 years ago lol

we live and learn mate ;)

Thanks Rat. Bonter you seem to have this guy sussed out, I am holding off bad mouthing him yet as i have had contact from him but they have been autoreply emails. It has been 2 weeks since he and his site dissapeared so im gonna wait a few more days then i guess it's a factory reset followed by a re-flash and new cline. More reading on how to set up the TM500 s for me lol!

once again thank you all for your input

I'd be very supprised if you hear from him again and even if you do. Do you really want to own a box that you have no control over? when channels change you have to send the box back so he can do it and have to pay for the privalage. Have a look on this forum to see what different things you can do, dont like your image then change it, dont like the way your epg is then change it. But your box as it is now you either like it or lump it or pay through the nose.

Yep, i agree with everything you just said and when you put it like that i think i should just put it down to a bad experience, cut my losses and start again. Lesson learnt!

So, just to clarify i should:
1. Factory reset my box
2. re-install the UR image (which i believe installs a cccam)
3. re-tune channels
4. aquire new cline and enter in the config file using mini-web

Is this correct?

Thanks

This is getting all to familiar a story ... locked down boxes thanks to UR Team trader friendly images...seem to be the main selling points of the TM500/600.
End of the day, moral of the story is... NEVER buy from traders, put some elbow grease inand learn how to set up your own recievers, it's not that hard...save yourself a world of grief later when the trader disappaers and you get a blank screen after paying for 12 months sub !
This goes for any reciever regardless of brand, DM/TM/VU/Clarektech/openbox etc etc.... just do a factory reset clean image and get your own C-Line sorted write off any cash you paid to the trader you probably wont ever see it again ...
