advise please new tm500 super

hi,i have just got a tm 500 and not sure where to start,i have got the mini web on my pc,should i install new firmware first.
If anyone could just let me know what order to do things,new to linux and do not want to mess things up,thanks
 
Yeah flash image first mate, then follow on screen instructions, to your preferences, then scan the sat your alinged with to bring in the channels., by clicking menu on remote > Setup > Satellite installation & TP Edit > Automatic Satellite search, presh OK, then start scan. Should take 20 - 40 minutes.

First time flash image....

I can't remember how i did it the first time, but make sure you have the correct image that says TM - 500 super.

hi segel and thanks for your post,i will now look into flashing new firmware onto tm 500.
 
i think i have flashed new image,is there any way of finding out what ur is installed on my 500 atm,also how do i go about putting rats channel list on,thanks.
 
i'm not too sure whether you can put rats channel list on a technomate 500 super mate, i would like to no that myself, anyone?

What you can do about checking the firmaware though, well to see if you've got the newest firmware avaliable for that box is, have your box connected to the internet, then click on the lan button and press the blue button or go to New F/W and click on that, if you've got the latest firmware on that box, once you click that , your have one of two things come up, either "sorry, no new firmware" which means you have the latest firmware or the other thing will be the avaliable firmware you can flash in replacement.

Again box must be connected to the internet.

the latest firmware is on ur 19/4/11 you say you do not think rats epg will go on 500.
tonedeff does a list, is that the one to use for the tm500?
 
either week epg or multi epg mate, download via blue panel.
 
rats list is E2 for dm800 etc wont go into an E1 box like tm500 flash with UR image and you can also download latest image via lan ,choose my server rather than ur server and you can download via lan tondeafs list
 
update,i have now managed to get a channel list installed but not sure if it is tonedeff's list or not.
also i have got some sort of epg on but it is now and next only,not sure about that but it is a start
i can not get the tm500 to recognise my card at all,with a spiderbox all i did was put the card in the reader slot and it would open the non premium channels.
only had the box a few days so i am making slow progress but there is an awfull lot more to these linux recievers than i expected.
just discovered the vlc media player for it to watch tv on pc anywhere in the world.
Can i just use the mini web or do i need to use other methods of communicating with the tm500?
if anybody can shed any light on my card issue i would be most greatful.

Someone tell me if im wrong but on the tm500 super dont you have to put the card in upside down ?.

thanks skygod i would not have thought of that turned upside down and rebooted stb and bingo,can you enlighten me as to where i input the boxkey? also my tm500 is using ccam 2.2.01 and it freezes quite alot so do i have to load another ccam?,thanks for your input.

The tm500 cant use cccam to read the card you have to use newcs and share it to cccam in the box i think you can download via the blue button.

ok,downloaded ccam2.1.4 and newcs 1.67 via blue button then went into mini web and clicked edit in newcs clicked on boxkey and entered my number,reebooted stb and now all channels clearing.
Does the tm800 work in the same way or is there alot of difference (thinking might send the tm500 back and get the real deal).
 
now i am struggleing to get tonedeffs channels on tm500.
each time i have put any setting onto box is either by blue button or mini web.
what is ftp and how do i do it,i have tried to put tonedeff's list in by mini web but can not seem to get it onto box,error"tar: invalid gzip magic"any advise would great as this is doing my head in.

Ftp is when you connect to the box, once ftped you can browse the folders in the box and edit/add the appropriate files.

You need to fixate an ip on the box so you can connect directley to it, using the fixated ip.

Have you a fixated ip on the technomate ? If not....Press lan on the technomate controls and disable DHCP. Make sure you no your routers IP submask i.e 192.168.(1).X and then give the technomate an ip in that range i.e 192.168.1.10 then do the other settings in lan that your router uses and save.

Then if you have windows 7, have a search for the windows 7 ftp guide and ftp into your box.
 
use dreambox edit to send the channel list to the box m8,should be available in downloads

Ok i have downloaded dreambox edit and now have tonedeff's list on,that job is done.
Next how do i put tonedeff's blue panel on as it is a zip file but can not see where it should load to,i have the enigma web interface on pc which makes it possible to watch tv and configure a few things but i do not have a clue,so if somebody can point me in the right direction on how to put tonedeff's blue panel onto stb it would be most welcome,thanks for reading.
