How to update entitlements

Hey Guys i have never had a problem before updating the entitlements on my sly card , usaully take it out of my tm500 and put it back in sly box , the entitlements run out today so i have had the card in my sly box all day but still not updated , is there any way to force an update and if so how do i do this thanx

has that worked mate. Didnt know you could force them. Is that the same for the newer boxes aswell digi mate!

hi i have done what you said Digi and the entitlements are still show 11-1-24.
ay ideas what could be wrong ?

not too sure m8, did you leave it in the official receiver for a bit after? as the signal is sent via the dish after its been requested by the phone line

i do mine every 6-8 weeke, and leave in the box for half hour after doing the callback and its always been fine

No , I took it straight out , think i will put the card back in cos the entitlements run out at midnite . dont want to upset any one

All updated now thanks put card back in sub box ans left for a while

sly cards work different from most other cards in the past, normally, a card is activated with an expiry date, sly cards need to be in the data stream to keep receiving updates to stay on, if it misses an update, it deactivates itself

updates are normally sent for 1-4 days AFTER your billing cycle, with sporadic updates sent throught the month, so if your last bill was paid on 21/1, your card should be good untill ~ the end of march, but, if it receives no updates untill then, and you leave it untill the last few hours before the entitlements expire, then youll probably have it turn off

if you have no landline, then theres no way to force the update signal to be sent again, youll have to work out your dates for when the best time to insert it into the original receiver is

Do your entitlements not auto update in the TM500 ? I dont own one..but never had to take my subbed card out of my DM500 in the last year to update entitlements they auto update. Only time I put the card back in the original STB was to update tiers when I added more channels to my package.

Maybe the softcams or combination of softcams your using to read the card dont support EMM updates and writing entitlements to the card.

in a tm500 u cant use CCcam as it has trouble with sticking so u have to use newcs and CCcam and that does not support update but he could switch to using CCcam and allow emms and suffer a bit of freezing then switch back after the card has updated

You don't have to take the card out to upgrade your package. All you need to do is reset your cam, leave it on an encrypted channel like Sky Sports before ringing Sky. Your card will then receive the update as normal as its just emms your receiving.

Good to know that works...i've read the opposite sometime..with people saying SoftCAM cant write extra tiers to the viewing card. Have you tested this personally ?

digidude or any one thats in the no when you say just plugged the phone lead in do you mean the lead that was in for multiroom my first thot was ive not got a sky phone so i cant do it but then my little brain kicked in to gear so will it work with cable phone line doesnt have to be bt if yes were can i get a new lead as my daughter bined my about a year ago cheers tony

have cccam installed but not in use, when you go to your bed at night switch to cccam and it will update. switch back when you want to watch something.
