OK ive just had this sprung on my, mates managed to get hold of a very very cheap tm500 and an even cheaper techno mate motorised dish, so he wants me to go down tomorrow and set it up.

ive no problems flashing tm`s, putting them on 28.2 east, no troubles at all there.

but never set a motorised up.

i`m presuming i have to point it at a starter satelite and then do a multi satelite search?

can i just point it at 28.2 east and do it from there? or is there a specific sat i need to point it @ ?

also roughly how long does it take to scan the skies, so i know.

cheers

Ok heres a quick run through,

make sure pole/bracket is 100% plumb both ways,
set elevation/latitude on motor bracket and tighten it up,
attach dish to motor and then dish plus motor to pole/bracket,
point dish/motor to due south which will be roughly whatever your longitude is,

from within box menu drive dish to zero,it should already be at zero but you never know,

once at zero drive it to thor at 1w and then move the dish/motor on the pole to the left/right/up/down to tweak the signal,

if no joy on thor then again through the box menu drive it to 28.2e and again left/right/up/down to tweak,

once you have it at the best signal then tighten up and check the other sats :)

I found it very helpful to have a channel list already on the box so that when I hit a sat I could see the channel on the TV and then use that to tweak it,

I think thats it m8 but apologise if i have missed anything ;)

in the interest of replying.......

was pretty easy , got the dish and motor, plugged into dish / motor, on box, told it to goto position 0 on 28.2 east, mounted it on pole, pointed in general direction of 28.2 east (sky), used cheapo sat finder to fine tune, then job done, from there told box to scan............

many thanks ( replied for google and others benefit..)

cheers

But did you drive it to 28.2e from the box before tweaking?

If not the lnb wont be skewed properly m8 and will hamper you getting any other sats as well as giving you trouble on 28.2e.

You better listen to wiz !

Just an idea :

Euh wouldn't it be better to know what his position= longitute and lattitude settings are ?
Then take the most straight South pointed satellite in the air (for belgium West flanders it is 5e sirius) so this will be his 0 point and also the satellite that will the highest in the 'ARC' and start from there on ? start setup : Put his dish and motor in 1 Line pointing towards this satellite = 0 point motor

Yes m8 that is the best way but unfortunately I just could not get a signal on thor when I was doing mine, thats why I used 28.2e to get it setup,

but you HAVE to drive it there first or else all other sats wont line up properly :)
