Hi im a newbie looking for some advice on linux boxes, i'm .uk and just got offered 2 cables from a neighbours fixed freesat dish, and have been looking into getting a linux based box,

So far im looking at buying either the TM500 or TM600, probably the TM600

1. was wondering can either of these stream video live to pc's like a dreambox

2. how is the EPG if i was using it with the uk freesat channels

3. does it work with any dreambox tools like the update tools and viewers etc, or just things made specifically for technomate

it works exactly the samne as a dreambox m8

the freesat dish will also give access to the (encrypted) sky channels

for an EPG youd need to download an EPG plugin, available via the download panel

Thanks for the quick reply, digidude

i've been reading lots of forums about these boxs and reconise your nick quiet alot :D

was it you that said somewhere you knew a good uk seller for the TM500/600?

"(encrypted) sky channels" does that mean i would be able to get fiver and five usa ?

Edit:
Also the tv is about 70ft away form the router, what would be the best way of getting ethernet to it ?

I've got a HTPC next to with usb wifi, or could i use one of those LAN over mains electricty wiring adapters or just cable it ?

hi have a tm 500 super and i am not getting a satellite signal hade the tuner replaced and still the same satellite feed is ok anyone know what would be wrong thanks

Dude this thread is like 6 years old lol.

Are you sure the feed is ok, what message are you getting on screen, when did it last work

getting message wrong data tranmession went in to set up satellite for 28.2 signal reading on yellow bar is 24 and yes tried other boxes and working fine had the tuner replaced and still the same

first thing I would try is to ftp a new satellites.xml file into /var/etc

then try a network scan, there is a satellite.xml file generator on the web just select the 28.2 satellite and download the file, if that doesn't solve it its probably better option to replace it for a newer better receiver.

Had a similar problem with eaglebox hd and finally had to bin it. Cheaper can sometimes work out dearer.

Eagle hd is noin linux, TM600 is linux different set up.
Anyway as suggested new sat.xml file and channel list.

wrong data tranmission is usually when transponders have changed.
