All,

I never seem to get the 3G Symbol change to H. Various postings (elsewhere) suggest that this should happen when an HSDPA connection is made.

Am I just in a poor area (G1/G2 postcode) or is there something up with my settings?

Depends on the firmware in the PDA. Some firmwares allow this connection but fail to show it.

Also does the sim / provider support it?

There are plenty of custom roms at xda-developers.com that can rectify this if it is the firmware that is at fault.

Cool that's exactly what I needed to know before calling T-Mob and giving them grief for not allowing me HSDPA connections.

I'll go and trawl xda-developers and see if I can work out which of the dozens of roms will do what I want. The choice there is just baffling!

I've got a T-Mobile Touch Plus with web'n'walk and had the same problem not getting HSDPA. It wasn't the phone, I had read on a forum that most t-mobile staff do not enable it. When I phoned t-mobile, I told them to look into it, the guy confirmed that a tick box was not ticked, think he mentioned something about mobile email, not too sure though. As soon as i hung up, i had the 'H' icon.

Give them a call mate, before you reflash your phone.

BTW, I usually have the 'H' icon everywhere I go, very rare not to get it.
