Hi My first post so please go easy on me, trying to get out from the spirialing cost of monthly sky payments, paying around £100 monthly and decided enough is enough. Is it possible to obtain HD quality pic and be able too record i.e. a PVR with some sort of decent channel guide. I thought I had sorted it by using my firestick with Mobdro loaded, but the pictures are poor due to my WiFi being crap at 4Mb/s. Shouldn't I be able to get much better picture quality if I used the sky dish to one of these boxes. Thanks.

You wont get HD on cs via satellite mate and 4meg is too slow for hd streaming

Thanks for reply, sorry not sure what the cs means, So can I get a great picture from using one of these boxes from using my sat dish with my slow 4meg. Daft question but how much of the picture is related from using the sat dish is it in conjunction with the wifi?

If vermin media is in your area you could go with there broadband package only.
Then get receiver that way. (You will get HD)
If that's not an option just hook a sat receiver up. Plenty out there with good channel guide.
You won't get HD just SD and 4mbps is more than enough for that.

Thanks for reply river4ever, no options for the Vermin broadband as no cable in our area been waiting over 4yrs for upgraded network, I presume these boxes work differently than sky as l have no problems getting HD from them, it not the main reason for changing just the cost per month, anyone with recommendations for a box that will obtain the sky channels etc in SD with a good EPG/ REC. thanks

I'm a big fan of zgemma as there fairly easy to set up and at fair price.
Have look in this thread mate.

Which Receiver?

just be sure to get twin tuner if your wanting to record one channel and watch another.

Ok zgemma sat box seems good, you can record one side while watching another, can you also pause live channels? Been on the zgemma website but still find it confusing which would be the best box to purchase. I would be keeping sky broadband at the moment so do these boxes need any additional equipment i.e. To receive wifi from the router or is it built in. Thanks

If your box is close to your modem just run Ethernet cable.
If distance is issue use homeplugs for receiver to get connection that way.
You can record and pause/rewind live tv.
Depending on what model you go for. I would think it would be either (2s) or (H.2s)
The (H.2s) is slightly faster and has SD slot.
(2s does not)
you will need some sort external memory to setup recording pause/rewind.
I use external hard drive.

Thanks to @Chabs I have mine looking like this......
