i'm thinking of getting one, has anyone got one or had one?
They seem ok just wondering if they do what they say on the tin.
Also looking for somewhere to get one.
Thanks

The box pvr the facts are latest firmware is an au fix for on october 07 firmware,so not great firmware support box has been out some time had mine for about 2 years now.Recordiings can be hit and miss . Has stated in another thread box is like marmite you either love it or hate it.Can not recomend any where to buy box it's against forum rules.

I quite like mine, using the au beta firmware which autosorts channels and is much better for recording. Like googlemad says though there are still bugs in the firmware and no updates seem to be released unless the au goes down. I like the twin tuner though but in hindsight would maybe opt for a v+ (triple tuner and HD up scaling)

thanx guys, i just got the starview 4 to see how i get on with that, any suggestions as to what to use for the hdd? i just put a 4 gig usb stick in there for now.

yea they work ok but recording is not that goo
d or reliable. Firmware support is non existant but works ok as a decoder

Have seen reports of the box pvr "stuck on" unable to get into menu or able to update firmware .Would like to know if these boxes that have failed are ones that have been purchased recently so are "cloned "boxes or is this happening to the oriignal boxes as well.

is there a way to check if there clones?

The whole starview range as been cloned lots of imformation about starview 1 clones but it seems harder to tell the difference between the later ones just know that the box pvr is not made by original manufacture .

i have a bit of trouble when i pause it but at the mo im only using a 4g usb stick so thinking that might be why, i cant decide if im getting a external hard drive or a dvd recorder with a hard drive, i wouldn t mind having the option to record somethin while i watch something else

A friends got a Box PVR, Firmware is very old and I seem to remember recording to the Hard Drive had lots of corruption requiring formats to fix the file structure. He has got an Itgate now and that works fine.

doh i'll just have to rough it and watch stuff when its actually on like the old days before sky+ etc
