BROADCASTING giant Sky and John Malone’s Liberty Global are weighing offers for a £4.5bn controlling stake in Formula One, gatecrashing the plans of a Qatari-backed consortium to take control of the sport.

Last week it emerged that RSE Ventures, a company founded by the Miami Dolphins American Football tycoon Stephen Ross, had teamed up with Qatar Sports Investments, the owner of French football club Paris Saint-Germain, to work on a bid for the global motor-racing series.

But insiders say the RSE-Qatari team is just one of several buyers in contact with CVC, the private equity firm that owns the F1 stake.

City sources said Sky and Liberty, which have long coveted F1, have held informal discussions with CVC about a deal. The Canadian fashion tycoon Lawrence Stroll, who helped to build the Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors brands, has also been linked with a bid

Really not sure if this could be a good thing or not, although something needs to be done with F1. If sky were to say they wanted rid of Bernie then I would be happy for them to do it.

that lot flagging now

lot of money for a 1 car race team

sky believe in better

:Biggrin2:

Lot of money for a minority sport.

It's not such a minority if you think of the fans world wide. Sky don't just operate In The UK . If there are any fans left by the time it is sold that is.

as long as they bring back better racing who cares who is in charge. decisions and rule making should be taken away from the teams and should be told how its going to be .... every team got its out way of thinking so nothing gets done about the crappy racing .... engine manufactures need to improve and upgrade there engines as much as they need too or want to and tires should last more than 2 laps if driven flat out.

I watched the formula E yesterday for the 1st time and I was right into it .. a few things need changing, like a wider track, yesterdays track was to narrow. but all in all I enjoyed it got me watching it all the way through cause things were changing all the time. not like in f1, I could go make a cup of tea, cut my grass pop to the shops come back and nothing has changed lol ... is this a rant I don't know cause you cant hear if im shouting or not lol ......

bring back racing I say :)
