The Frenchman has only joined Manchester United 18 months ago from Bordeaux.


French winger Gabriel Obertan has incredibly demanded Manchester United to put him up for sale.

The 21-year-old, who has made 14 appearances for the Red Devils this season, arrived at the club a year-and-a-half ago from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in a £3m deal.

According to the Daily Mail, the France U-21 player wants to move back to France as he is apparently doubting his ability to burst into the first-team lineup at Old Trafford.

laurent blanc, the manager of bordeaux at the time we signed obertan said he was quite surprised fergie went for him.... mainly because although he has the ability, lacks self-belief and if this is true then lookin back blanc was spot on...

Was about 12 months ago he was showing flashes of briliance on the left wing. Running at defenders, little step overs, very Ronaldo like in skill I thought... I thought, aye-aye!!! then, nothing, lol... He's just another signing who hasn't worked out, it happens, no major loss... Good luck to him...

seems like they were just rumours... i was surprised tbh at the timing of the request, why would anyone hand in a transfer request the day after the window has closed? If anythin you'd hand during the window and try to get away asap...

Incredibly he handed in the request to late for anything to happen in this window :err: He cant even hand in a transfer request right lol. He has not really lived up to his early promise but the boy is still young and i was prepared to be patient and see how he came along but it seems his head (no pun) is not right to play under the spotlight at Old Trafford. If he wants to leave then so be it, when is the loan window open from.

Ahh, like I was saying to my mate last night though, you can't believe anything that is said in football any more.

Who knows if this story was true or not, where it came from, and for what reason. All I know is I want agents removed from football...
