Rangers 4 - 0 Hamilton

Rangers enjoyed a comfortable win over injury-hit Hamilton as they cut Celtic's lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League to five points.

Rangers winger Vladimir Weiss was in entertaining form, the Slovakian firing the home side ahead in 25 minutes then being scythed down for a penalty.

Steven Whittaker confidently scored from the spot before Weiss added a third from a free-kick.

Maurice Edu scored Rangers' fourth, shooting past helpless Tomas Cerny.

Hibernian 0 - 3 Celtic

Anthony Stokes scored twice as Celtic eased to a victory over Hibernian that lifted the Glasgow side eight points clear at the top of the table.

David Wotherspoon's diving header flew just wide as Hibs started well.

But Celtic burst in to life and after Daniel Majstorovic inexplicably headed wide, Gary Hooper side-footed in the opener moments later after 44 minutes.

Stokes was fouled by Lewis Stevenson and scored from the spot before adding another with a sublime overhead kick.

Aberdeen 2 - 0 St Mirren

Scott Vernon scored twice to move Aberdeen four points clear of opponents St Mirren, who remain second bottom of the Scottish Premier League.

New signing Rob Milsom forced Buddies goalkeeper Paul Gallacher into a save during a disappointing first half.

But manager Craig Brown's half-time tactical switch paid dividends as Vernon forced the ball home following an effort from Chris Maguire.

Vernon headed in from point-blank range following a 67th-minute Maguire cross.

Victory ensured that the Dons have gone five matches unbeaten in league and cup and have now gathered 10 points out of 12 since Brown took over from the sacked Mark McGhee.

Kilmarnock 1 - 1 St Johnstone

Kilmarnock extended their unbeaten run to six league games despite St Johnstone forcing a draw at Rugby Park.

The home side took the lead when Conor Sammon netted Alexei Eremenko's low cross from close range.

Both sides struggled to create for much of what was a largely quiet game with Sammon looking the most likely player to add to the scoreline.

However, Saints substitute Cleveland Taylor grabbed a share of the spoils with a late strike across goal.

The draw kept the Ayrshire side in fourth spot in the table, three points clear of Inverness, while Saints stay eighth - but with their advantage over Aberdeen reduced to two points.

Motherwell 0 - 0 Inverness CT

Motherwell and Inverness Caledonian Thistle played out a scoreless Scottish Premier League stalemate at Fir Park.

Inverness had the better of the first half, with Adam Rooney and Graeme Shinnie having efforts saved by goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

Motherwell, playing without Sheffield Wednesday-bound Mark Reynolds, came close through Jamie Murphy.

Richie Foran missed a good chance for the visitors before Well's John Sutton had an effort saved by Ryan Esson.

Motherwell remain sixth, three points behind Inverness, and Stuart McCall's wait for a first Scottish Premier League win continues, with his new side having only scored in the Scottish Cup under his tenure so far.
