well into admin they go, relegation deffo, local businesses lose out, fans lose out (feel sorry for both of them) what happened to the right and proper people to run a club.
Whose next?

The FA and UEFA would have stepped in if this had been 1 of the so called Big 4, but as its only small little pompey they have had to suffer, the Premier League are partially to blame with Redknapp and Storrie the other main people to let this great club go into administration

i can understand why fans wanna blame the owners but are they really at fault?

everything they did was in the interest of the club. they splashed out money for players that the manager (redknapp) wanted and then the likes of storrie clinched the deal. i agree with 'the bouncer' that storrie & redknapp must take some of the blame.

players like defoe, crouch, distin, james, sol campbell... 2-3 of those were bought by redknapp for ridiculous amounts, the lot paid ridiculous salaries negotiated by storrie. its not like the owners took back handers or were pocketing the clubs profits (dunno if they were makin any) but i dont think they shouldnt be blamed personally...

Did they step in for Leeds United when they went into administration ?? No I don't recall them doing so! And they were a Big 4 club at the time.....If a club gets into that much debt then basically they're on their own, Leeds were the first big club to go that way, evidently they weren't the last - not that Pompey are a big club but they should bounce back eventually, but it could be a hell of a long way back if they go down and flog all their players.

No they didn't but yet again it was the managers and boardroom that caused that problem, Pompey have had some really difficult things happen this season eg. 4 Owners, Winning the FA Cup last season and 3 managers.

The FA should rethink their ' Fit & Proper ' Test to run a football club as nobody even knows who the current owners are and possibly who the other 3 have been this season, for a club of Pompeys size to be buying Defoe, Crouch, James, Campbell etc is stupid they have 1 of the smallest grounds in the league and cannot even fill that so how could they afford to pay players 80 - 100K a week?

So then the FA don't help out whether it's Pompey or a Big 4 club after all. And why should they? It's nothing to do with them. As you rightly said it's the managers and the board that are the cause of the problem by spending beyond their means. Or gambling the future of the club financially on future success in Leeds United's case and wasting money. Either way it's the same end result if they fail.

As for Pompey, quite honestly it's their own fault. And it's a good thing for them really in the long run, because it's a chance for them to hopefully do what Leeds did and wipe all their debts and totally reboot the club and their philosophies.

So in that case clubs should only be able to purchase players etc with their profits to avoid clubs going into this situation. The Premier League, the so called biggest and best league in the world is also the most debt ridden league by far and that isn't including Pompey and Wet Hams huge debts. It will soon be the norm for many clubs to go into administration and that is devastating for football, to think that Pompey could have ceased trading is unthinkable but this was the only other alternative.

about time the salary cap was brought in if u ask me. simple to solution to the pathetic salaries a lot of the players are on.

I agree but the question is how could they implement it when players are already on such huge wages, can you see Terry, Ronaldo, Rooney etc all taking a pay cut, I doubt it.

they wont have a choice if its a fifa ruling.... what else are they gonna do? quit playing? some how i dont think so....

if Fifa did save the club wouldnt all the other clubs spend stupid amounts knowing fifa would bail them out if they ran out of money?

Over paid pansies the lot of them! More concerned with demending stupid money than having pride in what they actually do for a living. Same with the whole of the entertainment business! Stupid money!

I'd much rather see the money go to people like the heart surgeon that gave my dad an extra lease of life or our forces that risk life and limb every single day.

I think footballers shouldn't be on any more than £500 per week! TBH
