Manchester United thread

id just like to say that in my opinion owen will be deemed as the best transfer move of the season,i think he will be up there with top scorers at the seasons end,i think sir alex has got it right,,,and cmon you reds

Sir Alex Ferguson expects Wayne Rooney to thrive under the pressure of having to score more goals this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been Manchester United's most prolific goalscorer in recent campaigns and doubts have been raised in some quarters about whether the team can be as successful without him.

Ferguson has brought in Michael Owen and will be hoping for a better return from Dimitar Berbatov, while Federico Macheda is also likely to get more opportunities following his emergence last term.

However, Rooney will have to shoulder much of the responsibility and the England international is set to play in a more central position up front, having previously being deployed in a variety of roles.

Ferguson is convinced that Rooney will cope with the weight of expectation and make a huge impact as United look to defend their Premier League title.

"I don't think the responsibility of getting more goals will affect Wayne at all," said the United boss.

Typical bad ref today, how the hell he could play on after Evra got elbowed right in front of him is beyond a joke. On play it was the right result as both sides made chances,as for the pens WHY evra WHY

yep got to agree, evra on another day would of put that away but after what went on earlier he probably wasnt in the best frame of mind.how the fook did the ref not do anything,,,,no excuses the ref was probably scared after he he probabaly seen ballbag chasing the ref against barca but same old chelsea with little niggling fouls was sure to come after being battered in the first half

was impressed with berba today, p*ssed all over terry and carvalho in the 1st half and showed some gr8 touches in the 2nd.... could be his season??? looked weak in the middle today at times in the 2nd half and Park was just awful, couldnt pass from A to B. Hopefully Nani isnt out for too long, looked very good at times and his will improve with more games (as i've always said).

Foster was very shaky and nervous... Kicking is probably one of his best attributes and really messed up there. He has made mistakes when coming for crosses in the past and that he something he's gona have to work on. Must say if it was kuzcrap who fumbled that cross, i would have been doin ma nut in lol

ref was a bit of pr!ck today! what gets me is that he stopped the game for bollock couple mins earlier, then didnt stop for evra (should make same decision for both situations) and then booked evra for a perfectly good challenge!

All in all i think we did well considering the injuries and departure of ronaldo and tevez, so did Chelsea and 2-2 after the 90 was probably a fair result. Our pens were poor so no arguments there....

From a Chelsea Perspective I have to agree 2 - 2 at 90 mins was a fair result, I think you could of sewed it up in the first 30 mins then we started to control it a bit, second half was ours imho although the ref did make a couple of bad errors but on the whole not to bad, I couldn't believe how bad your penalties were (Not Carrick's ;)) .. You do miss Ronaldo there is no denying it but I still think it will be tight at the top again with us first and second with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City hot on the heels, should be a good hard season, good luck :)

i personally think that the chelsea players were to blame as much as the ref. i mean what happened to the knock the ball out cos theres an injured player.especially after he was bowled over by ballack.theres a bitter taste in my mouth after this so called friendly.cheats certainly comes to mind.i ain't bitter about the result ,but all i can say is that both our goals seemed to be in the spirit of the game, and not opertunist(forgive me if that's spelled wrong) while a player was down.i'm glad we still have some morals about us.win or lose.roll on the premiership.let's play like gentlemen and not be afraid.:BLOBBY:

Nani extremely unlucky i thought he played very well until getting injured unfortunately he will be out for a while by the look of things. Overall i was impressed with our front 4 in Nani, Rooney, Berba and Park.

I was very dissapointed with Foster, him and England number one no chance if he plays like that he should have done better with Lumpalards strike also kicking was dismal.

In general the play weren't bad and the draw was fair.

Do you think SAF will sign someone if Nani is ruled out for a while?

My dream signing would be Aguero!

Chelsea the feckin coonts especially that German cock!

Well everyone knows about Ballack and his cheating ways, he's done it continually throughout his career.

As for penalties I knew Giggs would miss when he stepped up, and i just laughed when Evra was stepping up, it was clear as day he is terrible at penalties during the Bayern Munich friendly so why let him take one today.

so foster's picked up a knock..... well well what a surprise..... if it was any other player i'd say 'hmmmmm, thats dodgy coz internationals are on mid-week'...

“Ben Foster has returned to Manchester United having picked up a knock during Sunday’s FA Community Shield against Chelsea. Joe Hart has been called into the squad as a replacement.”

I am beginning to lose my patience with this injury prone keeper especially pissed off at his performance yesterday i know you can judge a player over one game but with Foster it seems we only get one game then an injury and the routine contunues.

I think we may well need a keeper in now maybe Diego Lopez of Villareal as Foster is unrealiable with his injury record and there is a question mark over his ability in my opinion!
