Man U buys out Sky from MUTV
January 22, 2013 13.21 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Manchester United has bought out the third stake in its MUTV channel previously owned by BSkyB.

In a statement, the club described the move as a strategic acquisition, which was a part of its long-term digital media plans.

MUTV was founded in 1998 as a three-way joint venture with ITV and Sky as equal partners. Since then the club says MUTV has developed considerable in-house expertise. The ITV stake was bought out in November 2007.

“The acquisition of Sky’s stake is great news for all of our fans who watch us around the globe, MUTV, its staff and the Club. We look forward to continuing to enhance our media proposition and distribution capabilities in the years to come; and delivering some of the best and most compelling content to our 659m followers,” said Richard Arnold, Manchester United’s commercial director.

Although its UK audiences are relatively small – its weekly reach of 83,000 is close to the foot of the Barb audience research panel – MUTV is seen in 57 countries across the world via both subscriptions and branded blocks on other channels.

United are handed a Premier league team in FA draw cup shocker !! Only surprise really is we got a home draw :)
Quite happy with it in the end but what is with us getting PL sides in this competition ?

Do spare a thought for Liverpool though, but at least they have been spared being knocked out by the pride of Merseyside that is Everton :)

Fergie told Scholes he should have tackled the robber but then said probably best he didn't with his record of mis-timed challenges!!

Apparently he tried but was very late :Yikes:

10 points gap in February  Jesus

I am throwing up in my own mouth saying this but COME ON LIVERPOOL :puke:

Valencia and Nani rubbish again. I'm sure Fergie is only using Nani to keep other players legs fresh and maybe to give him some airtime to advertise himself for the summer. Gonna say it again, I would play Welbeck in either of these positions cos he is a handful at the very least and will give you far more than these two at the moment. Cleverly good in first half but the half time whistle seems to knock the stuffin out of this lad. Not brilliant but dogged defending which you need this time of year. De Goonie looked confident between the sticks. VP looked flat for the 2nd game running....but still flashes of brilliance eh? Rooney.....well he was just fantastic all game. One man team....yeah right

Thing is we will probably sell De Goonie for more than what we pay for Begz....and get more for Nani than we pay for Zahaha....result!

Are you saying you will get these players for free in the end?. Does the term fell in shit, come out smelling of roses mean anything to you mate?. :(

Who knows? Begz may not be any better for united than De Gea (if he is indeed set for OT exit) and Zaha maybe a total flop. If we have two decent guys comin in and two leaving for decent money i would say thats good business. The roses will smell sweet tho if it works in our favour! On De Gea - I think he has great potential, he's just a bit too young and wet behind the ears. If he does go, i'd like to see him back in a few years, stronger and not so easily bullied. Wouldn't surprise me if Fergie plans to loan him out somewhere where he'll get knocked around a bit to toughen him up. Casillas for Madrid is a one off - he took to top flight stuff at a very early age, De Gea can be as good but needs a few years i reckon

Harsh post this mate

I thought Nani was our greatest threat first half and will play himself into form given some decent game time. Be warned I am a Nani sympathiser lol and I just feel he brings more than he throws away.
Valencia is a conundrum but he did have a run at the back four a few times and I just wonder if he's turned a little corner in his mentality. We have Everton as a tough test but I feel a good run in the squad for our out of form wingers will come as we have a decent run of games up to the Madrid ties and we really could use some threat out wide while entertaining our Spanish nemesis.
Wellbeck you will see in bigger games as his running keeps the opposition on the back foot and he must tiring to play against Not a true winger not a true forward but an excellent nuisance who can keep you pinned in and also offer a nightmare on the break.. He is feckin lightning off the mark.
