Manchester United thread

no striker needed.. Wellbeck, Roo, Chich, Macheda and Will Keane.
I hope Fergie only buys Kagawa and allows some of the youngsters to come through in midfield like Davide Petrucci, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Oliver Norwood.
Also get Anderson who's only 24 and Tom Cleverley fit and we won't be far off the pace again.
As for the defence, a lot of people have been saying Evra's past it, jeesh in some games there was only him that looked dangerous going forwards!!
Probably get slated for this becoz everyone else will be thinking we neeed to spend spend spend to regain the title...like Hansen said you won't win anything with kids!

Will Keane unfortunately is done for pretty much the next season. He did his cruciate knee ligaments. Macheda the guy is a huge disappointment its no coincidence he never plays when he goes on loan. Anderson will never stay fit guy can't get off the pies.

Welbeck is ok but still needs time, Hernandez really doesn't contribute to our football just comes alive in the box way we played this season just gone he wasn't effective. Our only truly decent striker is Rooney. We need to add in there for me. If you want to compete for the league and cups aswell as in Europe there isn't enough quality. However i'd be surprised if we see anyone sign for us upfront we're not exactly loaded.

Rooney's not had a good partner since Saha - by that I mean someone who appreciates his movement and is strong, pacy and a good thinker. Giggs and Ronaldo complemented them perfectly(before Ronaldo became the main man up front),they all took turns peeling in all directions and were always covered by one of the other 3 if they did and were unmarkable at times. Hernandez will never be that man.Welbeck could be in a couple of years he is showing all the signs. I actually think Torres would suit Rooney.I think he has got a great football brain and has not been allowed to express himself at Chelsea, they have just expected goals from him. RVP and Rooney,well...it wont happen but wow!!
I hope this Kagawa dude can become the 'link' to the forward line which has been missing. Some slick fat movement is what rooney thrives on. Sure its great to watch Scholesy spin into space then launch a quarterback pass to someones feet, but I miss the stuff we watched 2006-2009.
Valencia's great,he gives you directness AND has a willingness to track back. His first instinct when he gets the ball is attack-so you need a good right back to back him up and protect the space he leaves. not sure if Rafael is the man for that,he doesn't seem to be learning from his mistakes. Evra on the other side is awesome goin forward and I think he could play in left midfield.I do think his defensive displays have worsened of late.
I wish Nani would go.Never been a fan.Comes up with the occasional worldy but for me doesn't contribute enough. Slows the game down so he can piss about before losing the ball - not improved much from the player we bought, much like Anderson, who at his age and with the raw talent he had when he came should be dominating midfield by now.
Giggs, well thanks for everything m8 but time to stop. He's still great at commanding the play-against teams who allow him to.As soon as he's pressurised,he ain't got the reactions anymore and more often loses the ball.Carrick is still Carrick and to me is great just in front of defence.I think linking to Kagawa or the like would suit him fine.
Apart from that were still ok!

We Premiership Champions don't mind bitters from North of The Irwell, but we prefer them in pint glasses.

You have a number amongst you I've got real respect for, but I'd like to address those who've been turning up on the City forum to tell us that the title was a tie.

Apparently goal difference shouldn't count. Whether it should or not, that was the assumption we all started the season under.

But say we use the fairer method as used in international football and already in Spain?

On head-to-head, it comes down to which team won the most points. It then comes down to goal difference. Finally its down to away goals. Respectively, that's 6-0, 7-1 and 6-0 to City.

Now if goal-difference doesn't realistically count, then penalties must count for much, much less. Can someone point me to the MEN issue where Fergie congratulated Chelsea as joint European Champions?

That brings us to Fergie time. The bookies time matches as being 90 minutes long. Congratulations are therefore due to Bayern Müchen for their 1-0 win.

Accordingly, I congratulate United for winning 1½ European Championships over the decades.

If you can keep the Red bitters in their cages, I'll not need to counter-attack again with posts like this.
Sorry Red bitters, but we won it fair and square without the bias of intimidated referees.

To the nice people amongst you who accept that we both nearly blew it, but City just about deserved it, I have respect.

All the best to you all (football success excluded),
Basil

1 billion pounds to scrape it by the skin of your arse pmsl. Fair and square it was won and in dramatic fashion too and now you see what success brings with it. Be brave this one season and United will be back to lift the burden that success brings off your shoulders.

Always in our shadow

Now that remains to be seen, Man United are looking very tired at the moment. Where as Man City can only grow in confidence. You have had your day gasman and all you other Reds.Bitching over winning a league on goal difference will get you nowhere we stuffed you 6-1 at your ground and 1-0 at Etihad Stadium. Do I really need to say any more about who is the best team?. Good ;)

tbh regardless of the closeness of the finish,
You beat us twice so that makes you worthy champions,

now can we get back to hating each other ;)

Spot on.City deserved to win.Head to head should count BEFORE goal difference.City played the best football.Us UTD fans know that.I thought UTD did amazingly well this season despite being average in a few departments-but lost it at home to Everton-which will haunt them but hopefully spur them on next season.I think rather than boo-hooing that we only lost on goal difference,we should realise that we are not far offand maybe with a fresh injection of talent will be first over the line in 2013.Beware the wounded animal! A lot of City fans presume that they will now dominate for years. Some find it tough at the top. Utd have done it for years battling on many fronts to the final weeks of the season.Time will tell.No bitterness here-it was well deserved...enjoy

Don't you think you have enough pricks in that side m8 without any more fresh injections. Sorry mate I couldn't resist that one you left yourself wide open. I'll get my coat. :(

A while to go yet dude but at least we have the Euros to keep us entertained in the meanwhile, that should kill a week for us.

City will be the targeted team next season will be interesting to see how they react. Chelsea will no doubt be a genuine title contender also. Next year the league could be very exciting for Chelsea and City fans. Whereas we might battle it out with Arsenal for third with Liverpool battling it out for a top half finish.

As a United fan my hopes aren't high going into next season but if as reported we are able to land Modric and Tiote then we have a whole different ball game. I don't think we have enough money though to do this as we're also in the market for a left back and a striker. Arsenal chief exec Ivan Gazidis has said we inquired about Van Persie but they made it clear they won't sell and we immediately backed off. This is positive as there was also interest in us for Lewandowski of Dortmund who is team mate of Kagawa so shows we are after a striker. I wouldn't mind us going for Papiss Cisse from Newcastle maybe offer them a couple of players like Park and Berbatov plus some cash for him.

Redknapp is open to the idea of letting Modric go but Levy is adamant on keeping the player unless he gets a sizeable fee so any move from Modric will mean we break our transfer record.

Akon lets just say good luck to all the premier teams lets not make it a two horse race next season, sort of speak. Don't take things to much to heart mate, gasman and I just love winding each other up and with a hint of wiz in the middle that finishes it off. Hehehe

Paul Pogba joins Juventus one we failed to keep. Questions have to be asked about why we decided to negotiate when he was in his final year, the negotiations for a long term deal should have happened last summer his potential was there for all to see an amazing talent.

This is what happens when you refuse to play young players and they have little time on their contract. He was ready to be playing ahead of Cleverly but as with Rossi, Tosic and Pique, Sir Alex's refusal to give these guys a chance has forced them to go elsewhere. Its a shame we'll spend big money on young players from other sides but won't give our own players who come through the ranks a chance.

Kind of ironic we nicked Pogba from Le Harve and now Juventus nick him from us.
