its not so much as speed but quality of the line. spiderbox & others are very much reliant on the broadband being time critical, so a mobile broadband dongle in a 3g router will not be as good as a connected land line running the same speed.
When dealing with such small amount of data such as that used in CS, then the most important factor is not the size of the broadband, but as previously stated, the quality or the SPEED (ping / response time) of the connection.
Whilst the connection is provided "as-is" by your service providor and you cannot do anything to improve it, it's down to how they configure and run their network. A number of local things however, can affect the ping, the main one is using a wireless connection. Always try to use a wired connection if at all possible, but that's not to say that wireless won't work fine... run a speedtest and see what the PING time comes back as and that will give you a good idea of the suitability of the connection.
