Patches and Ethernet connection times.
Some members are posting about very long connection times after installing a patch, first I will say I dont have this problem and this is the way I patch my 9000 combo and 9900 (using the correct patch for the model as they are not interchangeable).
I have divided this post into three parts in order to remove any confusion to our members unfamiliar with the process.
1 Before patching.
Ok it goes without saying first download the correct patch for your receiver, unzip it and copy to your memory stick, put the stick into your receiver and save your channels list as this will be erased during the process.
To save your channels list press menu, find Accessory, step up to USB, press OK, press green, select Channel Data (UDB), press OK you will get the message (please wait) and you will see your saved file on the screen called "STB_DB.UDB" this is your channel list.
Press exit once now go down to Key Edit and press OK step down to UCAS and set to OFF using the right arrow key, repeat for UCAS Autoroll (if set to on).
Press exit, now step down to Network and press OK, go down to Client Setup and press OK, set any lines (if using) to off.
Press exit, exit
If you are using USALS to move your dish then using the right arrow key step to Installation, go to Motor Setup and press OK (if using a PIN number you will need to enter it) press green and write down your Longitude and Latitude.
Press exit, exit.
2 Patching.
Locate Installation.
Step to Factory reset and press OK (you may need to enter your PIN) you can now see the Warning Message, step to Yes press OK, you now see Saving data. Please wait, after a few seconds the Installation screen will reappear.
Use the right arrow key to locate USB and press OK, step down to the patch file (see note1) and press OK, select S/W Update and press OK, you will now see the progress bar travelling along the screen DO NOT INTERRUPT this process once started wait for it to end (about 1 minute) and the receiver will reboot by itself.
Once the menu reappears step to Installation and do another Factory Reset (this is needed ignore anyone who says it's not)
Ok thats the patching done now the final steps.
3 Final settings
Using the right arrow key step to Accessory, select USB and press OK, step down to the STB_DB.UDB file and press OK, at the warning message select Yes and press OK.
Allow the receiver to download the file and wait for it to reboot.
Press menu, find Installation select Motor Setup and press OK, (you will need to enter the PIN number now set to 0000), press green and enter your LOngitude and latitude (if using USALS) then save BUT make sure that you set the East/West depending on your location.
Press Exit.
Step right to Accessory and press 1111 key edit will appear, step down to key edit and press ok, select UCAS and set to on with the right arrow key step to Reset key data and press OK, select Yes and press OK. after the menu appears press exit.
Step up to USB press OK, select Softcam HD.key press ok select Yes press ok.

Your connection will take just a few seconds, check out JSC Sports on 13 e for instance.
Notes.
1 the Patch file will say something like Spiderbox_HD_7000 or 9000 or 9900_depending on the model and be ~8MB in size.
If your Ethernet dies not start within a few seconds then press menu and select the Reboot STB option select Yes press OK (NOTE Reboot NOT Factory reset you will find the Reboot option in the Utility file).
I have just patched both my 9000 combo and my 9900 in under three minutes (each) using the above steps.
Hope this simplified guide will help those with connection problems note if you are getting Error 0 then this means your receiver is over the 12 months connection period and the above will not solve that problem.
Ok enjoy and Merry Christmas to you all.
