hi guys wonder if you can help me just got a spiderbox and i am using homeplugs but my router which is netgear will not assign an ip address to the spiderbox.
This is strange as all my other stuff get assigned ip addresses just scratching my head have not got a clue whats going on ...is it the router can you help!!

Try this

Find the Mac address from the spiderbox
log into your router then click the LAN IP setup
now you need to press the add button then add the spiderbox MAC address
and a ip address that is within range and is not being used by any other device-save
once done put your network on the spider to auto and save
reboot the spider
you should now be connected

Thanks to Skytel.

OK ive had this problem, if IP binding (or address reservation) doesnt work, set a static IP on the box, so find your subnet that your router uses (192.168.0.X or 192.168.1.X)

assign ip address

ip address = 192.168.X.250
subnet = 255.255.255.0
gateway = 192.168.X.? (router address)

dns = 192.168.x.? (router address)
secondary dns (if it lets you) 8.8.8.8 (googles free one)

X = your subnet address variant it could 0 or 1
? = your routers ip address which is normally the first vailible on the network, so 1 normally, but BT homhubs have a tendency to use last (254)

sometimes the spider boxs will just not get an IP assigned from DHCP. The reason i chose .250 for box ip is normally most routers choose anything above 100 to assign DHCP so theres a very good chance 250 wont be used by anything else on your network.

CCcam crashing, if your server is running cccam 2.1.2 / 2.1.3 / or 2.1.4 then you it will, you need a server that runs 2.1.1 for the spiderboxs to run nicely. This is true in 99% of the cases, if anyone tells you that all spiderboxs run fine on 2.1.3 / 4 they are talking shite.

there is of course a chance that your server is having problem, but this is a known but not admitted problem with the spiderboxs.

other than that they are good boxs and excellant piccy quality.
