if youve been following my thread, youll see ive had some issues with connection being dropped after ~20 minutes

after a few hours, a lot of equipment and a lot of swapping things over, i now knoe EXACTLY what was causing this, and can easily replicate it

my box has now been running solid for 5 hours connected to my own server, whereas before finding this, it was about 20 mins max

i also tested it by taking to a friends house, and sure enough after 20 mins, lost the connection. went back to my house, back to friends house to check, and 45 mins later, still running perfectly

please give credit when posting this on other forums, as this could be the answer to why so many servers have problems with spiderboxes

as soon as i removed a netgear 10 base T hub from my network, everything started working fine, even though its always been fine for any other receiver, plug the hub back in, and after 20 mins i lose connection

even though the spiderbox is on a different router, as this hub was on my internal network, it was ballsing it up for the spiderbox

so if youre having problems connecting to someone, and losing connection to them, ask them if they have a network hub (different to a switch) running

i changed my base 10 hub to a 10/100 Mbs switch for £6

I was coming online to say that I'd found a massive amount of collisions across my network and tracked it to an old belkin 10base in the garage took it out and the collisions dropped right out.
Bingo.

this is another thing that makes me curious what else goes on behind the scenes with this receiver, if it creates so much traffic, that it can cause a 10Mb/s hub to flood a remote network with so much data that it crashes its own connection, what exactly is the traffic for?

ha ha ha ....yes it's true check if is not any camera in Spiderbox conect inside throught IP checking you when you testing the TM linux STB . lol

oh for the love of God, let's get serious. I thought you were supposed to be semi-professionals??

What is this new nonsense all about? It's just plain silly.

It has to be something else. I use a 16-port netgear hub on my internal LAN and as I said before, have no problems.
You may have a DHCP-caused IP conflict somewhere.

actualy that has to be the best post ever by nobie bobi he made me laugh anyway.

Had my box up and running for a week now thought working fine but after about 8 hrs freezes terrible, fine all day but once been on this amount of time crap.
Tried using different servers aswell my own my mates and others.
Unwatchable tried everything to my knowledge using different ccams turning this on and that off but no difference.
As digidude asked the back of the box does flash constantly green with the orange light permanently on.
Might be a great box if you just want to catch a 10 sec advert in hd :)
otherwise wouldnt watch something you might want to watch on it as i would end up with a squint in the eyes through the glitching.

ive never had any DHCP clashes, or any other network issues in the years ive been using networkable receivers, untill now

is your gear only a 10BASE-T hub, or is it a 10/100 hub? this could be the difference. if i plug that back into my network, the spiderbox will lose its connection after ~ 20 mins, wether its on an internal IP, or connecting to my network from outside. Without this hub connected, its fine

Wireshark.

Maybe it's anti-jabber lockout or broadcast storm protection if the Spiderbox is sending those packets for some reason. Some logging might show what it is doing.

Some network peripherals might not have these features enabled and just allow the box to monopolise their resources.

i do not know what people do, but i have the box here i can whatch eny card with Hope2 without any frezing..
I use ADSL2.2 Bethere with Netgear Routers .

I have used the box for some days even like Server with one card i have no disconection like server and client....

I have fund now SPIDERBOX do not like bad server.lol

it may not be the server though, it may be additional equipment connected to the same network as the server.

i know my own home server is fine, ive run linux boxes on it for years, as well as testing other receivers like protek and technomates, with no problems (apart from known issues) which is what threw me with the spiderbox

i have dual broadband lines into the house, so knew i could do a full test, connecting to a 'remote' server via the net. so knowing that the spiderbox was the ONLY thing connected to one router (so it couldnt be that network), and knowing that my internal network has to date, been fine, decided to shut down individual legs of my home network, and as soon as i shut off the upstairs, leaving everything else running, the problem cleared. so one by one i disconnected receivers, xboxes etc from upstairs, untill the only thing left was the actual hub (10 BASE-T).

i replaced that with a 10/100 switch, reconnected everything, and it worked both internally, and via the net.

just to double check, before posting about it, i put the hub back in, and the problem returned, i tried this a few times to be sure

and COACH said removing similar equipment solved the same problem for him

so netgear routers, and even switches (i dont know) could probably be fine, but their 10 BASE hubs look like they cause issues, even if theyre on the same network as the server, which people connecting to it wont know about

another thing ive discovered, with the media streaming software, is that if you run it on a PC using VmWare (to run linux in a sandbox under windows etc) that a virtual server is created (2 in my case) and as one of these was at the top of my network connections list, this is what the software locked onto and reported its IP as being (192.168.192.1)

as the application was running in windows, but this IP is for a virtual linux machine, the spiderbox couldnt connect to the software to stream

so have you been rock solid from when you changed this?
I have a switcher but i really got problems going from cccam 2.11 to cccam 2.12 .
The question i have is i need to get boxes for mates when i am home.
Would you recommend this box/buy it without gift as a box for cardsharing ?

from what i have heard, it is only capable of 8 c lines for server, but saying that everyone says its a very good box with gift
