Anyone buying Amazon Echo?

@Rat hope you have fun with it. It is a little strange talking out loud but you get used to it.

Google Home looks like a better alternative as it links to my phone etc.

I can see the use of one though, the large speaker and sensitive microphones do look great.

Also 'Echo' is easier to say than 'OK Google'

I was tempted by Google Home but there was no UK dates for it. Seems US release only for now.

I wasnt sure so I bought the DOT. I've since bought 4 more Dots and an Echo. Got them in most rooms of the house controlling internal lights, grouping all my internal and external christmas lights and of course the heating. Using LightWave RF, Hive heating and a few Hive plugs. I'm exploring DLink fr the TV controllers as my TV doesn't seem to have capability of controlling from IP commands.

Going to wait for prices to drop..
I want loads of this stuff but just way to expensive for what it delivers..
Anything that makes your life easier...

Price has dropped @AJT Echo is £129.99, Dot is £44.99 think this is for a limited time run up to Christmas

If you're not in a hurry I'd expect them to drop to Black Friday/Cyber Monday prices in their Boxing day sales.

I wouldn't expect pre-launch prices again for the current gen until v2 is announced.
