Instrucstions

1.Connect your RS232 LEAD to the SKYBOX F3 then go to device manager check which port your rs232 is on (port 1 is default)

Go to windows device manger to check

1-8.gif

2.Now select corresponding port on the erom software.

3.Press upgrade & select the skybox f3.abs enclosed in the erom folder.

4.Switch off the SKYBOX F3 at the rear of the box.

5.Now press "NEXT" then turn the box on at the back you will now see "Com Port OK"

6.The loader will now start loading slowly. (allow the firmware time to load even if it hangs at the end wait for completion)

If it fails to start loading, turn the box off via the rear power switch & again press "NEXT" then turn the reciever back on,it may take several times before the box starts to load the firmware.

Ive tried this method and it does work

I really dont know, there is not much info on the F4 on the companys website.
I can find that the F3 have " Dual-Core CPU, 396 MHz MIPS Processor ", but there is nothing about the F4.
On another site I can find this information about the F4, " 450 MHz MIPS Processor – ECOS Cooperation ".

So it seems that its diferent processors but I am not really sure since its not any information on the factorys website.

Hi again.

The tools is working for both F3 and F4.its just the software that is different. I have both my receivers up running now. :Biggrin2:

Thx for the help I got from how to do the recovery.

So do i need a RS232 to RS232 if so what type as there are cross overs .. been about 10-12years since i used this port.
and is it possible to use a USB RS232 as ive not used a Desktop for 2yr now (no RS232 on a Laptop/Tablet)

i tried usb to rs232 (rs232 is a crossover and called null modem lead ) but no joy but rs232 striaght from comport worked fine

trying to reset an f3 bricked box with a usb to rs232 cable ,
once ive pressed next box on , get the message "synchronising stb's please reset target " left it at that , no much joy , needing to dig out the old pc i think with rs232 to rs232 connection , rummage rummage
