Hi

Advice?

I am using normal Sky HD and want to change to Sky Q myself within my current contract without having to start a new contract.

I want to get my aerial guy to change the LNB but will I be able to setup a Sky Q box purchased off EBAY myself or does it have to be done by Sky? At the moment we are on a half price deal and want to try Sky Q without renewing an 18mth contract and them doing the installs.

Advice would be gratefully received.

Hi All by the way, not been on here for a while. I'm glad to be back.

Sky q is different than the other sky boxs. Sky don't give you the box you rent it off of them like virgin from what it says on the small print in the adverts. If this is the case sky will say no ta to your request of activating their property.

As rawsy said you don't own the skyq box so buying one from ebay will simply not work.

I would just ring them up and say you got a leaflet saying you can upgrade with free installation but your confused about the monthly cost. They should let you know what your options are. I think you might be looking at extra £12 ish a month.
