Sky have launched a campaign to bring to an end the epidemic of viewing of Sky channels using illegal card sharing boxes. The reason it’s been so difficult to stop, is because a legal viewing card is used and its data is shared on a server among thousands of users. The illegal operators charge anywhere between £10 - £40 per month for all Sky channels including PPV events. However, you could only watch SD as Sky managed to knock out the HD channels some time back when they removed the Thomson Sky+ HD boxes out of circulation.
On Tuesday Sky disabled 9 SD Sky channels from transponder Astra 2F 12.148 H
The following channels have been switched off and it’s believed more to follow:
Fox +1
Sky Atlantic
Sky sports 4
Sky Sports 1 (England)
Skysportsnews HQ
Living+1
TCM
Eurosport 1
Eurosport 2
It’s not known why it has taken them so long to stop this type of piracy and why only now.
