Can anyone tell what router do sky supply and are there any issues if you use your own. cheers

it may have changed but last time i researched you get either a netgear or sagem router, both look the same (a bit like a mini hd box)

i have a sagem one but its pretty bog standard (wireless g, not n) 100mbps ethernet and not gigabit :( but it does the job, could do with a better range to it though!

the interface is easy to use, you get a customised sky firmware on it it has wpa2 which is a must :)

apparently you can return them to stock firmware but ive never looked into it.

if you are going to use your own you'd need to find out the modems username and password it uses to connect to sky i think.

I'd be interested how easy that was to do as i'd like one with better wireless :)

if you want to generate your adsl's username / password use this tool

They are all Sagem routers now and imo not very good at all the wireless range is pathetic and as jamesboyjim says no gigabit just the 100mbps, You can use your own but this is frowned upon by Sky and eventually you will get disconnected and informed to use the official product. if you wish to try there are plenty of tutorials on the net about extracting your user and pass word quite easily.

Think I'll give it a miss as i wanted to use my own router but if that could cause issue's, I could do without the hassle.
Thanks for the info lads much appreciated.....

The thing I have heard is you need to use the sky router if you are going to use their online service for sky TV. Don't have sky myself so can't confirm
