Skybox freezing and glitching ??Replaced box and its still the same.

Ive got a dreambox and standard sky plus.

Ive checked all the feed and they are fine if i plug the same lead into my dreambox its fine.

But the standard sky box is cutting out and glitching all over the shop.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the signal strength good?

snr 84% agc 99% on my dream box on the same cable.

If it's a Thomson Sky Plus receiver, chances are it's the caps in the power supply that are on their way out. Replace the caps in the PSU, you will see the top of each faulty cap isn't flat and will need to be replaced. Plenty of sellers on eBay offering replacement caps for the receiver.

i had a thomson one and then got amstrad one. exactly the same.

Faulty LNB, cabling, interference maybe ?

Seems to be if your dreambox works perfectly.

thompson boxes have crap capacitors in the power supply, this causes all sorts of errors, from dead, to a single channel breaking up, and loads in between, missing channels, random reboots, no sat signal on all channels, stuck in standby, loads of faults.

amstrad boxes have crap capacitors in the smoothing circuits for the satellite tuners, causing problems ranging from breaking up on only one channel, to no signal on all channels, and numerous channel releated problems in between
