Cable splitter

I'm switching over from cable to satelite,my coax was installed when I renovated so is hidden behind the skirts etc. Not a problem to remove the skirts and install extra coax for the Sky+ downstairs. But I have a single coax to upstairs which has a splitter (under the floorboards) feeding two bedrooms. I know cant run two boxes from the splitter but will one run as it is a cable type and I not sure it has DC passthru for LNB. Dont really want to move wardrobes/lift carpet/boards and fit coupler. Anyone advise, thanks
