i know generally the bigger the dish the better BUT is it worth getting the zone 2 dish over the zone 1, performance wise? it costs about £10 more looking on egay

Advantages over a region 1 dish is that in bad weather the region 2 dish is less likley to give you interferance and signal and quality seem to be higher when installed properly. I have a region 2 on my house and since I fitted it a year ago I have not lost signal once where as before I was always getting picture freezing in bad weather. with the mini dish.
So the decision is yours.

as an interested n00bie, what is a zone1 or zone2? got any pics between the two? or a URL?

They look exactly the same shape/design -just a black sky dish.
43cm is the size of a zone1, while the zone2 is slightly bigger at 60cm.

If you type in sky dish into ebay you should see the diffrence. "NOT A LOT" as pinkhelmet says they are both the same but zone 2 is bigger.:proud:

when you say zone 1 and 2 do you mean astra 1 and 2?

im assuming not as i thought astra 1 was analogue.

No zone1 and zone2 refers to areas of uk, zone2 being the label for weaker signal areas like Scotland and some coastlines.

Astra 1 has had digital signals for about a decade. Astra1 and Astra2 are used to refer to names of clusters of satellites in different positions. 'Astra1' satellites are located at position 19 degrees east, while 'Astra2' satellites are found at 28.2 degrees and 28.5 degrees east.

Yes but we use the term 'astra2' to mean all the satellites located in that region -including Eurobird, thats my point. Its a phrase that is used to describe the locations 28.2 and 28.5 no matter what the names of the satellites are or whether they are digital or analogue etc :)

A bit off topic . I put one of these maplin squre flat plate antenna dish things up. Its 45cm square and looks a bit better than a sky dish.
Im in Central scotland and im getting about 85 % signal strength and 65% + quality. The only thing is it points at the satelitte as its not offset but it still looks ok. They can be painted as well.
