I don't believe it did but, like the Trump vote, it revealed, or highlighted, a split that has existed for some time.

I would be interested in what others think.

I would say it kind of united the country as everyone now seems keen to get on with it asap. (exept Nicola Sturgeon) lol

no I don't think brexit did split the country, I'm still working, drinking and friends with remainers and vice versa ........
the only thing that is slightly dividing is the sore losers spitting out there dummy and toys which was a democratic vote in the end so get on with it ...

but in America trump getting elected was the perfect time for people who don't agree with politics and how the country is run and cause chaos .........
but as americans they got to go one step further and start destroying there own country.... which like ours is a great country to live in and is worth defending ...

things in Europe and in America isn't working and a change was needed, no one can say what the future holds on brexit or trump only time will tell, and as always we will just get on with things regardless.

as long as we all pull together regarding the vote we will see this out and hopefully come out of it stronger .....

peace .............................

oor Nicola is mad but suppose hats up to airing what she strives for guess set of balls thats been lacking
but cant see her getting what she wants

or no compromise & just do it lol

Many voted for brexit because they knew wont happened..

Ohh I get it now. The people who wanted to remain voted to leave, and the people who wanted to leave voted to stay.
A double bluff?
Hmm, very :proud:clever

I was almost tempted to delete that for clocking but no I will leave it for others to enjoy :). That's got to be up there with the daftest logic ever lol

The analogy of "stress testing" any relationship can be applied. The political pressures of late, both in the UK and US, have brought the flaws out. It needed to happen at some point otherwise we end up repressed and disenfranchised. The important bit is how the flaws, many of which will be irreconcilable views, can be managed.

I don't go out wearing a Guy Fawkes mask smashing some unfortunate bloke's shop.

one of the most sensible comments I have heard for ages regarding brexit its about time we got on with what we have decided & all pulled together to make what we are going to have a success instead of many being prepared to pull out the uk's plug just to say I told you so

The media, playing to their respective audiences, would definitely have us think that.

Personally, I think it's only highlighted existing divisions; but at the same time it's opened up a dialogue.

existing divisions is too strong a description in my opinion there will always be different opinions that's part of what makes the uk a great society. what sticks in my mind strongly is next to nobody if anyone felt the system the referendum used to decide was in any way wrong only now they have realised they didn't get the result they wanted they are screaming foul play I think that's well out of order Richmond is a classic example with the local mp saying she has a mandate to reject the result simply because she was elected in that area it is very simple there was no Richmond eu referendum there was no Scottish eu referendum there was only a uk one. I didn't get the govt I wanted last election but I am not screaming foul play I have just excepted the next general election is when I will get another chance to have my say. as for the media there at the very least half truths on both sides what I found most distasteful was the people in power on both sides that told & are still telling lies

I don't understand sturgeon when she says Scotland have voted to stay in the eu & if she don't get the deal she wants I assume she means the vast majority of the eu membership benefits as she see's them without being a member she will attempt to bring another Scottish independence referendum which has already been made clear if Scotland are independent they will need to apply for eu membership which will take years. so in effect if she don't stay in she will immediately do something if successful will take them out mmm I am sure she has what she see's as logic in there somewhere
