Sensible Topic President Trump

Trump is already appointing known lobbyists and old establishment figures into his Governement. The ignorant people have been fooled. So what if he only takes 1$ as a salary, He'll make tons of money when he reduces taxes for big business since his own empire will benefit.

I'm not trying to cause a problem, insult anyone, make anyone mad, Just asking a question that has been bugging me since last week.

How did Trump get elected if so many people don't like him.
It seems the majority of the people do like him but only the ones that don't are complaining,.
Or am I missing something? I would like someone to explain what the problem is.
Im not American so I don't know a lot about your politics, so be gentle with me. Im not looking or an argument either.

More people voted for Hilary Clinton than trump.

Clinton count... 62.4m
Trump count... 61.2m

personally I think people are voting for change.
if I lived in America I would not of voted as both are as bad as each other.

If bernie sanders was running surly he would of been best bet.

Im a welder by trade and when the recession hit 7 or 8 years ago I'm yet to see what was promised.
If anything wages are going down or at best stay static.
Cost of living is going up.

I voted out and I am far from ignorant !

Trump won for the same underlying main reason that we voted to leave Europe - one word - Immigration, or to be more accurate, to much of the wrong type immigration and no control of it

I look forward to the up coming German, French and Dutch elections, will be interesting

I bet most people equate immigrants to brown or black people so If people voted to reduce those type of people then they will be in for a shock. It's fine to be concerned with uncontrolled immigration which is what being in the EU is about.

Just for the record, Trump is President Elect. It is possible the Electoral College will overturn it, unusual but not unheard of.

A lot of people seem to think the people vote for an American President directly but it is more like an 'expression of wishes'. The result is confirmed in December.

We shall see.

I wouldn't dare to suggest that you were @Bronto m8y. There were a lot of people who voted out for valid reasons, but there is growing evidence that a large number of Brexiteers were fooled by lies and devious propaganda. The same sort of scenario that got Trump elected.

If I could just mention the inevitable impending evisceration of the unnecessary and anachronistic political mess exemplified by the EU fills me with inordinate joy.

I voted remain, but do feel the EU is doomed to failure. At least the USA, the system the EU seems to want to emulate, has a common language...

I am not convinced of that @little_pob. The US has a common language, true, they also have many common goals. I think the population/electorate, or whatever you want to call them, have many common goals too.

I don't believe that exists in the EU.

One thing I am certain of, Brexit could have been easily avoided by compromise. Unfortunately, compromise is not a feature of modern politics. Inevitably that results in division.

he isn't taking a salary and wants to live a normal life . I'm thinking he started this as a joke and now he won I think he is amazed at just how stupid the Americans are too
