Sensible Topic New referendum

Ok I'll put it this way Norway was produced 40 billion barrels of oil. The "uk " 42 billion barrels of oil.
Both Scotland and Norway have just over 5.3 million people living in their country . Norway is the 4th richest country in the world . Has the penny dropped yet mate . Westminster will fight tooth and nail to keep scotland . Not because they love us they just love our oil gas really just our wealth . All the people that say oh you couldn't make it yourselves just need to look at Norway . Also the money Westminster has stolen from us is in itself disgusting

Cant compare that as like for like mate Norway has been in it from the start. If we went independent we would be too late to the party as the oil produces far less revenue now than then and will be long ran out by the time we catch up

Ian do you know how long that story has been going around . Thatcher used the same story in the 70's and again mate your comment is wrong sorry . Norway first hit oil in 1969 years later than Scotland . We have had commercial oil digging since the late 1800's more up to date in the 60's we were producing over 8000 barrels a day . The same story lines of lies and tall tales of gloom and doom just being churned out .

Next big issue to raise it's head will be what currency will Scotland use ? because for sure we would not allow you to use pound sterling

you won't sorry its not only England £ . See bud this is the arrogance that gets to people we put more in than we take but you think it belongs to just you . @ian The mandate from who . The support for another referendum is growing . It will happen the question is when . The SNP won't call for this unless they are sure of a win this time

I'm all for democracy @IANB, but where does it end, it's like the Brexit vote and people calling for another referendum, what if it's leave again, or Stay in Scotland, do they keep calling for more until they get what they win ? lol that's not democracy it's sour grapes ! accept what was voted for, shut up and get on with it is what I say

Not arrogance at all pal, if you keep the pound sterling, the Bank of England would be Scotland's Central bank, therefore the Bank of England would control your interest rates which by definition would be influenced/controlled by Westminster, that would hardly be independence now would it ?

so mate is that it we don't get another chance to change . People change their minds and we have to be open to that . Scotland voted to stay in Europe but are being forced out that's not democracy .

They cant hold a legal referendum without a mandate from Westminster

Have a read at this interesting article
Scotland won't get its second independence referendum – that suits Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP just fine

Pro's for staying bigger economy, more trading power . I'm guessing there would be no real boarder so freedom of movement wouldn't be an issue . I'm thinking we would be basically have the same relationship and we do at present with Ireland .i really don't think much would change only we would be in control of our own laws taxes . I'm sure anyone how voted brexit can understand how we might feel

Actually is democratic mate as we are currently part of the uk

So that's how it works one country bullies another into something they don't want . Sorry mate that's not my kind of democracy

Not bullied but yes we voted as a union of countries so we have to respect the outcome and get on with it.

Perhaps you missed post #30 @countryboy

I still don't know what the plan for your currency would be if you ever did leave ? it is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for leaving in my opinion

We voted in by a massive majority . We voted against trident against bring in the universal credits the list goes on but they are forced upon us . If you honestly think this is an equal union I'd like you to tell me one thing forced upon England
