So my mate dropped this off and asked me to sort it for him...??? everyone has a mate like this lol
so any help would be good as I have no idea about this box firmware / settings anything really

it goes in the hdd folder mate.
When you ftp your box using DCC you will see hdd-media/hdd at the bottom open it.
just select your picon folder and send it to it.
