When I use Installus to download Apps, a lot of the app downloads need you to enter your phone number before they will allow the downloads, is this normal? Whats the best site to get the Apps from? Thanks

the network its on is O2, my dads on T-mobile, will it activate with T-mobile sim even if it's locked??

My dad has just bought a 3GS, when he turns the phone on and connects to Itunes he gets a message saying " There is no sim card installed in the Iphone you are trying to activate, please disconnect and insert sim card" Is there a way of seeing what software the phone has already installed...

I updated and used redsn0w, I assume its jailbroken now, but how to I get it unlocked as it's still saying "no service" with the vodafone sim and the iphone says the carrier is Orange. Any ideas please. Thanks

If I follow the way in the link, do I upgrade to 5.0.1 via Itunes?

Hi everybody, I have just got hold of an Iphone 3gs running Version 5.0 and Firmware 05.16.05, it looks like its locked to Orange as it says no service when I put my Vodaphone sim in. Can somebody advise the best way to proceed to unlock and jailbreak the phone. Thanks guys Pete

Hi kryton and thanks for all your help :) The phone is finally sorted or at least it looks like it so far I used sn0wbreeze & Tinyumbrella again, this time I did a fix recovery in Tinyumbrella first along with the other instructions it says to do for Cydia, that seemed to make a difference...

Tried that way Kryton, and the tinyumbrella way to get around the 3194 error, but nothing is working as i still get the 3194 error, the only way i can get this working is using the redsn0w file and booting up in "just boot tethered right now"

Followed the instructions in the video to make the custom fw, came up with 3GS-4.2.1a file, this is what i used in Itunes to restore

Hi Kryton :) Tried the sn0wbreeze way but keep getting error 3194 when restore has completed in Itunes, tried a couple of times and the same result.

Got it to reboot by doing "just boot tethered right now" option. if i turn the phone off/on will it reboot or do i have to use redsn0w again to start it? when I try and run redsn0w again as normal it keeps getting stuck on the logo.

Hi Kryton I managed to get Cydia working and unlocked the phone, when i turned it off and back on again it gets stuck on the apple logo and wont boot up, tried loading the redsn0w again but still the same, any ideas?

Tried that, still the same, the phone is loading up, showing fw 6.15 & version 4.2.1 Safari tries to start but fails, the other icons such as you tube, weather, stocks ect manage to load and use the web. maybe try again after some sleep, any ideas where to go from here would be most welcome...

Yes Kryton, the icon for Cydia is there but the icon has no picture,its just a white square with the Cydia name, i have rebooted the phone and tried to install Cydia again but no luck so far.

I managed to get the baseband loaded, i think the problem was the version of itunes i had, updated to the latest version and tried again, ipad basband loaded but Cydia failed to load properly for some reason and won't allow me to access the site, going to try and re-install cydia via redsn0w see...

Just put the phone on itunes and itunes still recognises it as an iphone even though it should have been updated to the Ipad baseband and be showing as an Ipad, I have tried updating a couple of times with redsn0w and always the same outcome, not sure what to do now as it seems for some reason...
