you dont mention the make and model number of your tv ??????? some tv's allow you to disable the internal speakers if useing the optical port {check the tv settings m8 ??} should work with the optical to rca converter if you can ??. do a search for twin optical optical input...

wont work m8, "tv" is optical audio "out" , dvd is audio output connections only ??--------------you need audio inputs like whats on an amplifier {ie, tv optical output to amp optical input etc etc}
