With the classified documents on UFOs being released by the Ministry of Defence it got me thinking how many believe or have seen anything ?

BBC News - UFO files released by government

are we really the only intelligent life form ?

I cant believe we are Rat. The sheer size of the universe to me means there must be other life forms maybe even more advanced than we are.
You could think yourself sleepless for weeks pondering this lol.

Re: Do You Believe In UFOs ?

Could get pretty deep this lol

I believe we have been visited in the past, I honestly think the "Jesus was a spaceman" theory has some merit -- "chariots of fire in the sky" = space/shuttle craft ? "face of an angel" = face of an alien being ? and old pictures of Christ showing a glowing orb around he's head which could of been a space helmet lit up like astronauts wear today ? I believe we have been visited and deemed to primitive and I think they are waiting until we evolve enough to accept we are not alone in the universe, we can't even get along with each other from different countries yet lol

Anyway as I said very deep lol

UFO's - possibly and completely plausible ( though I'm sure most sightings are hoax or other phenomena [ explainable or not ] )
Ghosts and all that stuff - No
Alien life form - As said previously, the sheer size of the Universe and the planets capable of forming life, yes without a doubt. Whether they are more advanced or advanced enough to get here I don't know but they are out there.

I believe guy's.Just wish they'd abduct my misses for a few years lol!!

The possibility of other intelligent life forms - Yes.

UFOs - No.

I say yes for UFO's, however aliens attempting to land no. If you see something in the sky and you dont know what it is, its a UFO ;)
A UFO does not mean the aliens are going to get you.

If you see something in the sky and you dont know what it is, its a UFO ;).

I used to say that a lot when I was a child. I've seen literally hundreds of UFO's by those rules but in the context of the thread, UFO=Alien craft, I've seen none at all.

i think rat has taking too many Prozac, he is now starting to see things. :roflmao:

E.T. and his fellow aliens are out there - bababillions of miles away, but no dodgy spacecraft in our skies, not for me.Theres lots of unexplained stuff that pulls the gullable, theres also large crocks of shit. The usual stuff like 'look at this, how do you explain that then?'.Simple answer - i can't. thats usually followed by 'It must be aliens then!' I'm sure theres beings out there trying to communicate,as we are with them, but as yet ours and maybe their technology ain't upto it yet

Good points.

There seems to be an unfounded assumption that if other intelligent life forms do exist, they must naturally be more technologically advanced than we are.

With all the trillions of stars in the visible universe I would pretty much bet that there is intelligent life out there somewhere. However I really do not believe in UFOs or the concept of us being visited by Alien beings. The distances involved are astronomical and for any civilisation to travel these distances within a lifetime is impossible. physics states that the fastest speed in the universe is 186,000 miles per second, there is no way you can go faster than this. Reason being is that as you approach the speed of light the mass of an object gets heavier and heavier and thus by the time you get to the speed of light the object has infinite mass which would take all the energy in the universe to move it. This is why going faster than light is impossible.

The argument against this from some is that being advanced species they would have used their technology to overcome the light speed barrier. But the counter argument states that what civilisation who could have overcome this with advanced technology would want to interact with us in the first place, as we would be like ants compared to them.

Just so some of you can comprehend the distances involved.
Our closest star is 4 light years away. Now multiply 186,000 by all the seconds there are in 4 years and that is the number of miles to our closest star. At current technological levels it would take us as a species approx 1000,000 years to reach it.

You could use a wormhole though... theres one near the second star on the left, then straight on til morning :)

Folding Space

folding space in science

Yes I was going to mention that. Wasn't that something Bob Lazar mentioned whilst allegedly working at Area51? You contract space in front of you and expand it behind you, kind of like pulling the planet towards you or something like that. I'm a great believer in UFO's but I believe they are all man made. Nazi Germany was working on flying discs, they developed Stealth, Over The Horizon Radar, Cruise Missiles, Air to Air/Air to Ground missiles etc etc. They single handedly got NASA up and running for the Yanks. Miniaturization of electronic components was another Nazi Germany technology, that's one of the reasons Japan became the worlds top electronics country being an Allie of Germany during WW2. Many modern Air Force aircraft from around the world were developed by the Germans during WW2, hence the mad scramble into Germany at the end of the War, grabbing as many scientists/documents/technology they could get their hands on. It's said that for every year that we civilians see our technology progress the military has progressed 45 years. I also read once that the likes of the NSA etc have computers that are 25 years in front of what we are currently using, it makes you wonder.

Flying saucers ! no,but i firmly believe we have been visited in the past, engineering feats such as the pyramids i dont think could have been accomplished without some outside intervention.

You don't even need to go down the folding route. The Two Slit Experiment shows that one photon of light can exist in two places as once. If it is possible for that one photon to exist near the other then it's reasonable to suggest that it can exist at any point in the universe. You don't need to go faster than light, you can be there instantaneously.

/I'm off to watch this Benidorm that everyone is raving about.
