Hi,
Long time since I've been here, kind of dropped out of the sat tv scene some years ago, so lost touch with this forum.

Recent holidaying over the past year involving driving in Europe meant I needed to get up to speed with satnav's as the wife's satnav was going to be put to good use (a Garmin Nuvi). It only had old maps for the uk so I spent some time at the beginning of this year getting a suite of europe maps and installing these on a 4GB sdcard. Never done anything like this before, it went well, and the device proved invaluable whilst away. Still working fine now.

Now, having the grey matter rekindled, meant I thought I would play with some other devices. For fun I got a cheap device off of fleebay, a Binatone U435, which I found not very impressive. Over the past couple of months (when time allowed), I thought I would try to update the maps on this and consequently did a bit of research. This proved fruitless but enabled me to learn that I could put an all together better nav system on it. Long story short, this got me to the much better iGo Primo which works well, and to be honest I could stick with that; it'll do me.

But, just to feed my curiosity and knowledge, I would like to know if this device is capable of running any other systems, e.g. tomtom, iGo 2.4 and garmin. Not to get too bogged down I was planning on just trying iGo 2.4 to start with.

I am aware that this unit is probably old now, but like I said it'll do me, and I'm really more keen to see what it can do just for the fun of it.

So, can anyone advise whether it is capable of running iGo 2.4 before I waste my time, 'cos if it definitely can't I'd rather know now.

Some info on the system :-

Binatone U435,
4.3" touchscreen (480 x 272 - I think)
Win CE 6.0 (I'm pretty sure, but will stand corrected),
SD Card slot (has 2GB card in it - I'm led to believe it's the largest this device can take, can someone confirm or deny that).

I have had a go at loading the iGo 2.4 files onto the sdcard and running the unit. It seems to boot the iGo system momentarily as I can see what looks to be a space scene with a large space ship on it and iGo 2.4 in the top left corner, but it crashes within approx 0.5 seconds and then reboots back to the Navigation / Menu button page. I can supply a directory listing of what's on the card if it helps, but if anyone can provide some info or pointers it would be much appreciated.

Fanx for reading

Anyone????

Hi, I am not an expert in this by a long shot but I don't think iGo 2.4 will install on the Binatone. Have a look online and see if you can find iGo Primo and see if that works.

Hi longbo43,

Thank you for your reply, and apologies for not replying sooner myself.

I still have not had any luck with iGo2.4, it still only momentarily boots to the spaceship scene. As stated above I have already tried iGo Primo and have got it to work well. I am happy to stick with this and was trying 2.4 to see if I could get it to work.

Has anyone got any experience of getting this to work, or had any luck getting TomTom or Garmin maps to run on this unit.
