Right, saturated just about all the other threads, so i thought I'd move to the sat nav section, (got the traffic master hacked..lol) so used to have tomtom on the nokia and then garmin and that was quite good, I'd be looking at a stand alone one this time, maybe a garmin? and yes most importantly get all the speed cams etc, like the garmin for this, i do have ovi maps on that on my nokia but it's a pain setting up, much prefer to just in the motor with a one pre-installed around the dashboard.

Thanks in advance.

I would say any cheap chinese sat nav.

I bought a 7" one from pandawill for £60 delivered (it was being sold for £90 by ebay dropshipping sellers). It runs on Win CE6 and has 2gb internal memory and a micro SD card slot (i currently have a 16gb card in).

It came with Igo 8.3 but I have installed Igo 8.4, Igo Primo 1.2, Navigon, Sygic and Ndrive. all with the latest maps.

Whereas tomtom needs to be cracked, well maps actually, Igo doesnt. You just download it and put it on your device, ether internal or external memory. You can download the software and maps from somewhere like navitotal or mobilepassion.

I use Igo primo mostly.

Speedcams are free from various sites and I've never had any problems with them working.

I've used it in UK, USA, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland and it's never steered me wrong.

It's also got handsfree bluetooth, so I can make and takes calls from my phone, it has an FM transmitter should I want to play MP3's or videos and have the sound come through the car speakers.

It will also run any software designed for Win CE6 (also older versions) and can be booted into the Win CE desktop instead of the sat nav menu.

All without having to crack or patch anything. :)

Nice one, thanks for the heads up on that then, think i might go and have a look for one....rep added.....

The good thing about IGO is you can decide which maps to you, ether Teleatlas (owned by TomTom) or Navteq (owened by Nokia) but there isnt much to choose between them. But it does mean that you get exactly the same maps as TomTom or other branded sat nav's. You can get 3d buldings for both maps and all the poi's and speed cams.

Beats telling the mrs to sit there with the atlas held up so you can see it, they have better voices too (but dont tell her I said that).

Have you thought about using a 7" or 10" tablet. You then got the choice of having installed GPS or using google maps. Then of course when you are stuck in traffic you can watch something instead.

Cheers, urm no i haven't actually, I'm under the presumption that all the sat navs that I've been looking at with the "IGO" etc all have GPS fitted to them?

@ Captain...thanks matey, thanks for the heads up on these like.......appreciated.

there are plenty of tablets with GPS built in, you can pick up a 7" device with GPS for around £150 from china inc shipping,

You can get car mounts and chargers off ebay, amazon, etc

There are several satnav options including igo, though offically igo for android is not available in UK but european maps have UK maps on there.

But I just use google maps which needs a data connnection (I just use my smart phone for data connection) as it downloads as it goes but the advantage is that maps are always up to date, you get latest speed cam and live traffic info. In addition the POI is really good and you can just type in say mcdonalds and it will find the nearest mcdonalds. On top of all that it can do display both sat and street view.

Maybe it was my dry sense of humor, i just expected someone to search for the location :p

On subject, I've looked before at others and always come back to Tom Tom as it seems like the most people place their time into over hacking. The only aspect I've found recently is that its become increasingly difficult to get the speedcams/poi's etc without some form of subscription. Pocket GPS World gives you them for free (sort of) if you subscribe to their site (£14.99)

EDIT: No-one has asked what your budget is? So, what is it?

lol, I'm sure your humour is funny :Biggrin2: just sitting at work and haven't opened me eyes yet, got a can of red bull and a cup of coffee !

Ha, any way, looking at the reviews of that "Sony" one it got a shite review so just borrowed a Garmin Nuvi 1310 - it's quite nice, does remote simm to me mobile for calls etc and it's supposed to do the speed cams etc. (think it did on my old Nokia n95 that) but will have a check.

Budget, I'm easy, nothing major needed though!

Would like the remote simm for calling if needed like the garmin and also it's got to have speed cams on it! just can't help putting the pedal to the metal.

Thanks mate

EDIT: igo's looking like the one like! thanks for that Tom tom link though...
