Tested with MDA Compact 3 on Windows Mobile 6.
This is TomTom 7.9 with the very latest maps.

1) Find the device ID of your PDA.
See step 1 of this post.

2) Download TTN7.450.9028_repack.cab from somewhere (usual places, just search in google and you will find)

3) Place the downloaded file onto the memory card of your WM device, and run, this will install tomtom 7.45.

4) Download vga.7.910.9185.black. (Tip: put the name into google and go to first result)

5) On your device, navigate to: \My Device\Intern geheugen\Navigator and extract vga.7.910.9185.black onto it, click yes to any messages to overwrite. (Note: the folder is on the device, not the sd card of your device)

6) Download UK_Ireland_815.2024 onto your computer. (tips: again, put the file name into google and plenty available) and extract it to any folder.

7) Download the easyusetool attached to the bottom of this post and extract it somewhere on you computer.

8) On the easyusetool, there is a text file called device ID, put your device ID in there (from step1), all captals and no spaces.

In the map folder that you downloded in step 6, there is a file that ends with the extension DCT, copy and paste that into the folder "insert_meta_from_Map_here".

9) Double click on RunMeforDCT.

10) Select the following options:

1 > 1 >

11) Navigate to the insert_meta_from_Map_here and copy and paste all the files into your map folder.

12) Copy map folder to the root of your devices memory card.

Run tomtom!!

Ps: this method will not work on devices with dedicated internal memory as your map folder, even if it is wm5 or 6. Map will need to go on external memory card.

Hope this helps..

hi

will this run ok on the navman icn520 ?

Navman is a dedicated gps system in itself. Does it run on windows platform? if not, then this will not work but not gonna say that there arent other ways.

Check you PM, i sent you a link that enables you to run tomtom on your navman - convert to windows.

nor me but i think thats german version s/w on pda so your looking for a folder called internal sumthing ..... :/

Ok on mine i got that folder after i installed the tomtom7, BUT all you need to do is navigate to or find the folder that contains the tomtom application.

Thanks for this, TomTom Home is just rubbish!

One question, what do you mean by this bit:

5) On your device, navigate to: \My Device\Intern geheugen\Navigator and extract vga.7.910.9185.black onto it, click yes to any messages to overwrite. (Note: the folder is on the device, not the sd card of your device)

Should I install the cab or extract it on my PC and copy the files in that directory? When I extract I just get a load of .001 files?

vga.7.910.9185.black is not a can file its a zip file. you should extract the contents of that file into that folder. It will overwrite some files. Basically you are replacing the actual tomtom application exe file, just as you would if you have downloaded a dodgy copy of a program on your pc.

Cool cool, thanks for that, I think I've downloaded the wrong one in this case.

Also, there doesn't appear to be a .dct file in my map folder?

I'm trying to install a map that I've just downloaded of Rapidshare, but, I have also paid for one off Tomtom but I can't work out how to download it without using Tomtom Home - do you know if this is even possible?

EDIT: Once I've done the copy the zip file thing, I THINK Home might actually work, let me give it a go!

EDIT EDIT: Nope, still doesn't work! So what should I do about the missing .dct file?

when you say tomtom home, im not sure what you mean mate? because home is actually a peice of software you install on your PC.

Should have put this on the original instructions.
Install TomTom 7.45 then install Tomtom home from their sit. The connect the device to the PC and run tomtom home on the pc. it will then detect Tomtom on your device and you can find device ID.

Another correction, please a mod move the bold bit to the original post:

Move the META file from the map folder and NOT the DCT file. Hence the folder is called "insert_meta_from_map_folder".

Sorry guys!!

Yep, just found that out and got it all working now!

I just meant that when I tried to install it using the way Tomtom describe on their website, i.e. install the map to my device via TomTom Home, it wouldn't work.

All working now though on my Touch HD, thanks a lot for this mate!

Hi,
Thanks for the PM's and all your hard work, You are a star! A couple of questions for you though.

Will this run on WM2003 se (thats all I can put on my Ipaq 6515 unless anyone knows different?).

Am I correct in thinking that I need the QVGA version of this file ie:

qvga.7.910.9185.black.rar

as opposed to the vga file you have listed.

Again, thank you very much for all your effort

Big Thanks to Devil666x
All working here on a Touch HD
Cheers

Dear Devil666x,

many many thanks for the highly appreciated work,

I did what you mentioned step-by-step on MDA III, it is working fine, but one major problem is that, TomTom 7.9 did not overwrite TomTom 7.4, and each time I need to use TomTom, I need to do the seetings from scratches. I dowmloaded the TomTom in My Device/My Documents/TomTom, I could not find the folder " Intern geheugen"....please any help will be grately appreciated.

thanks

can you find the folder that has the tomtom application in? like program files?

Thanks for your response, I found one in My Device/My Documents BUT NOT in My Device/Program Files.

Thanks

I think this is coming out in different places for different people depending on the setup of the device.
