Hi all,

New TM Original Software has been released for the TM 5402 HD

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software v1.23] 100712

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

I have just tested the new O/S and what a complete let down again... I cannot see any difference between the new O/S v1.23 and O/S v1.20

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software v1.20] 07 May 2012 (5.83MB)

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software v1.23] 10 July 2012 (5.97MB)

As you can see the file size has increased... but as to what exactly has been added/re-employed/amended/improved... your guess is as good as mine... why can't they just simply add the release notes in a text file...?

The Blind Search scanner is still not working properly... the Signal Quality bar is still restricted to showing 5% - 9% on all transponders with no signal lock... there are still no changes to the scan methods employed... the 'Step' scan method is still missing/not finding transponders... so this has not been altered/improved again... and there is still no sign of the requested Spectrum Analyzer...

I have just done a quick test of the Blind Search scanner on Eutelsat 25A at 25.5°E (fringe reception in the UK) ...I am currently receiving signals from 3 transponders on this satellite...

11.039 V [1534] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 2123 Kbps [Super Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 96%
Signal Quality 68%

11.065 V [2200] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 3041 Kbps [Wide Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 80%

11.152 V [2200] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 3041 Kbps [Wide Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 96%
Signal Quality 55%

I set the Blind Search scanner to...

TP: 11.000 ~ 11.200
Pol: V
Mode: All
Step: 1MHz

(slowest step scan ~ should be the most accurate)

The Blind Search scanner found nothing at all... not one of these three transponders were found...

So I re-tried the scan with...

Step: 2MHz ~ again nothing
Step: 4MHz ~ again nothing
Step: 8MHz ~ again nothing

I really think that Technomate should go back and look at the real core basics again... they should re-evaluate the founding principles of what their satellite receivers were initially designed/intended to do...

A few years back Technomate employed a sound philosophy of getting the basics sorted out and rock solid before anything else... but this philosophy seems to have been eroded away or just plain and simply overlooked recently as not being that important...

Sorry for the rant but the new O/S v1.23 will now form the basis of any further patches that are made... if this is the case then I am sticking to O/S v1.17 and Phantompatch 1.17

Best Wishes,
Zorch

I totally agree with you Zorch the latest software is a mess I have never experienced such disappointment with all of the 5000HD series if the TM1000SD series had started out like this then it would never have got off the ground,

It is a shame that the knowledge base on the HD series is so thin on the ground as to be almost non existent despite the best intentions of these upgrades more technical input to assist the programmer would help to reach the full potential of these receivers,

Sadly from what I have seen over the last 12 months has been a lack of good technical input to improve these receivers maybe due to experienced programmers moving on to Linux & other projects,

The sufferer in this is the customer who spent a couple of hundred pounds to get what was supposed to be the latest technology in satellite receivers only to be disappointed with continued promises to make the equipment work as intended,

I & most satellite tv enthusiasts would be willing to pay for a decent HD satellite receiver that had the capability to work as the TM1000 SD series did so well but my trust in TM to achieve this with the 5000HD series is diminishing day by day.

Hi

I do not know whether to laugh or cry about this situation. what do you think?
it becomes implausible ... Why would a company like TM Ltd is it not able to develop and test their softwares itself before making them public?

Is it so difficult to find competent people in Europe able to do this? Obviously this has a cost, but at the cost of which sell the receivers, I think you have ample means. Remember, in the recent past you get there (big kiss to DkM)

Neglecting the support is the best way to ruin his reputation and thus suffer the consequences in terms of sales.

Comme on dit en français: "Vous sciez la branche sur laquelle vous êtes assis"

as a new technomate user tm 5402, i too was dissapointed to see that there were many missing transponders even on astra/eurobird after doing a blind scan and i had to add them manually

I have to agree with you all, tm5402HD is for what it is a good receiver but not what it used to be ... it is a good buy for beginners and wide support for different packages but don't 'tinker' with the rest as it is a let down. And don't y start about the patches.. I really hope ...... that TM gets better again.
I do not promote this product anymore as it just does not do what it should do... to be honest and i'm not joking but the satellite providers have been catching up and are delivering very good satellite receivers which do provide very stable functioning / recording ! (and almost for nothing)

Hi again all,

Could someone help me out here...?

I am looking for any of the earlier TM 5402 HD Original Software releases before...

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.11] 120711

I haven't got anything earlier than O/S v1.11 ...because of finances I wasn't able to buy my TM 5402 HD until the end of October last year... and O/S v1.11 was then the current O/S

If anyone has still got the earlier TM O/S releases stored on their PC... would you be kind enough to post them on this thread... I would like to try them out to see how they perform...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi Zorch,

Nope, I think I never went lower than this version TM5402HDCI_ALL_111_12-07-2011.stb. Maybe Digi ?
If I remember good there were a lot of problems (coding etc ... firmware blackout; black screen, bugs) before 111.

I found the first version for you

I have done some editing so maybe you check this out

Hi wolftje,

Thanks for checking mate...

The reason I wanted to try O/S earlier than v1.11 was to see if the 'Blind Search' scanner ever did work properly...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi wolftje m8

sorry m8 your to fast for me i didnt know that you already sended it

Hi again all,

I have tested O/S v1.01 and the 'Blind Search' scan results are exactly the same as my test results with...

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.11] 120711
TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.16] 140112
TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.17] 160112
TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.20] 070512
TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.23] 100712

'Blind Search' on Eutelsat 25A at 25.5°E using the same search parameters as before...

TP: 11.000 ~ 11.200
Pol: V
Mode: All

(O/S v1.01 only uses Steps of 4MHz)

I repeated the same scan 6 times with the same result...

The 'Blind Search' scanner still could not find/lock onto the following 3 transponders on this satellite...

11.039 V [1534] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 2123 Kbps [Super Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 96%
Signal Quality 84%

11.065 V [2200] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 3041 Kbps [Wide Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 78%

11.152 V [2200] 3/4 DVB-S [QPSK] 3041 Kbps [Wide Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 96%
Signal Quality 53%

Conclusion:
It looks like the 'Blind Search' scanner has never worked properly...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi kevinoliver,

Phantompatch-TM5402HDCI_streaming-ALL_112p_20110810

The patches are adaptations of the O/S ...so the patch you are using was based upon...

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+ [Original Software 1.11] 120711

Hi again all,

As far back as I can remember... the Technomate O/S has always been released about a week or so before the latest Phantompatch appears... but did anyone else notice that the latest TM 5402 HD O/S v1.23 was not released by Technomate until 1st August... but Phantompatch 123p was released 10th July... however both files have the same date attached to them...

Are we therefore to assume that the O/S is now an adaptation of the patch...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Unfortunately Magic had his big dispute, all for his own reasons, with TM - also for a short time Compass -- and as xxxxxx states, things have never been the same since!!:Mad2:
