Hi Chaps.

As I found out some time ago (thanks XXXXXX for this) my TM5402 is a cccam client only.
I am looking for a receiver which could be used as cs server too so I can share my sub too.
What is the best HD receiver (linux or non linux) to do the job.
I was thinking about a blade 7000 but I am not sure about the support.
Thanks in advance for your help. Marty

how much money are you willing to spend Vu+ Ultimo is a great box with lots of support

You could just use a cheap dm500 as a server only ;)

Thanks thijss.
Would a vu+ solo do the job?
I have a budget of £150 only and the ultimo is really...ultimately expensive for me ;(

it would but there is lots of cheaper boxes out there that would like wolftje says, have a browse around
most if not all of the linux boxes will work fine as a server.

a cheap DM500C will work as a server, and as theyre now no use for cable, they are available for cheap

And how do I hook up the DM to TM. Should I run a cable from loop out on TM5002 to LNB in on DM500?
Or is there a thread that explains this type of settings.
As I have 3 fixed dishes already connected together using a 4 in 1 out switch I had the idea to get a 4 (LNB) in x 2 receiver out switch so they can both get the same feeds as I have no idea how to hook a receiver to another one.
PS: I am living on a block of flat and all dishes are provided by the council as part of the digital switch. So there is no way I can interfere with the set up.

If you could get a cheap dm7020 they r a very good box m8

Well many thanks everyone. It clearly looks like I have to go the Dreambox way. So I will spend a lot of time reading the threads to get a good idea. I looked through the websites selling dreamboxes and I must say that there are loads of clones out there and appart for the paint and a few screws difference it is very very hard to say what is what. Unless you can PM me some recommended ressellers.
So far I like the DM7020 cos of the CI slots. I will see.
Thank you Chaps!

tm-600 £99 /tm-9100 super £149 dm7020 ??? all of them are sd Linux boxes .
tm-9100 is the best to use as server and client as well as tm-600
tm 800 in spite long history behind it it is not a choice for enthusiast but For hd box is the best
if you are using it purely for server client and watching TV recording and a bit more
its best value for money at £139 has the best picture quality 1080p better then vu solo dm clone or original ,
vu solo might give more functions but price more then double,
Finally decision is yours

Re: Loopthrough Cable ?

Just a little remark about the loopthrough
No need to use a loopthrough satcable as the linux sharing server box will only serve as a 'Decoding Server'.
And ss stated already in this thread by DW members, Quote : '"
it only needs to be connected into your existing network. No dish necessary. So you could buy a very cheap dm500 cable (Nice tip Digi indeed !)
(I would suggest to give it a fixed pirvate network Ip depending on your network setup of course)"

All made by Technomate ? will you ever go away and leave us alone here ?

He don't mean you buddy he's talking to helpy or dr linux/Richard

the problem with using a TM linux box as a server, is that you cannot use it only as a server, it MUST have a dish connection, or the CAMs simply do not start. this is ok if youre planning on watching the box you use as the server, but if you want it just locked away in the cupboard with the router etc, then unless youre prepared to run a dish lead to it as well, it simply wont work

Thank you chaps for your guidance. As usual the information is great and it shows me that I will have a lot of reading in another section of the satellite forum. Dreambox it will be.
I just have one last question though (and my apologies as I should probably post it on the sreambox section, so Admin if you need to move it please do):
As the DM500S is not HD is it still possible, by using it as a server connected to a TM5402, to open HD channels with a cccam line?
