Noticed the standby clock on the front LED display was flickering.. when brought out of standby it stopped... so thought was a weird bug and rebooted box from power switch at back.

once i turned the power back on i'm getting no response from box at all. nothing registering on network activity and no signs of power getting to the front LED display
the SPDIF port on rear does seem to be getting power though as it shines red when power switch on rear is set to on...

also ethernet & USB indicators are not lighting up and no signal is getting to TV

tried booting into miniweb mode and is just the same...

any ideas or is it time to look at buying another ?

get no response from null modem, but i've found a couple of old posts by ks33 mentioning this fault and saying to..

c22 c23 both 1000uf 10v in power supply upgrade these capcitor with 1000uf 16v

but i can't see those listed anywhere at all on the PCB

Edit:
i can see four "1000uf 10v" capacitors labeled EC213, EC214, EC215 and EC216

Hi ToneDeff Have you received pm sent yesterday ? 2 1000uf cap on right side of the power supply are faulty looking from front To be on safeside change all 4 capacitors

What do you think?

Should we draw up a diagram/legend with all the capacitors so that people can repair their own PSUs? At their own risk of course.

There are only 4 1000uf caps in power supply which can be easily identified Drawing circuit diagrame may raise issue with technomate i can take a picture of power supply if it helps thanks

This forum is for users' benefit, not Technomate. Ultimately happy TM users equals happy TM. We don't need a full on diagram, just a picture with which cap goes where. Sometimes, capacitors are faulty even if they do not show signs of bulging, it would be worthwhile replacing all of them.

One of the members binned his 600 because of a faulty PSU as his failed and was not prepared to pay £45 taking into account the postage costs. He could have got his PSU repaired for a few pounds.

Here's a photo showing the 1000uf capacitors "marked red" on the PSU in my TM600, one looks like there's no chance in me replacing as it's well and truly glued to 3 other things surrounding it

Hi ToneDeff change ec16 and ec15 That should bring the sat back to life again please sure upgrade these capcitors with either 16v or 25v 105c temp they lost longer your power supply is later model hence the capcitors ref is different it is not difficult to change these capcitors best of luck thanks

any tips on how to use a stanley to remove...

only time i've ever touched capacitors was in a basic electronics course using a solderless breadboard

Edit: no need for guidance, just spoke to a mate and he already has 1000uf 25v capacitors and will switch them for me.

Glad you are sorted.

For anyone else, you cut the adhesive taking care not to cut traces. This means the only thing holding the capacitor in place is the solder. Desolder as normal.

DO NOT CUT THE CAPACITOR.

I just did the same job today following this guide.
I didn't change the one with the adhesive and it still worked.

Will that make a difference not changing it?

I suppose if it is working now, well and good. Next time it misbehaves, you will now which one to pay attention to.

EDIT: I would have done them all.
