Anyone any idea where you can purchase the clamps that come with a TM2600 motor? One of the nuts on the ubolt clamp is a pretty poor fitting - probably from wind or me over tightening. Ideally looking to purchase a couple of new ones ideally with two pre drilled holes so that the nut cannot spring out of the clamp. Its to fit onto a scaffold pole.

I have looked on various sites but all I can seem to find is clamps for a sky dish.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry DD not entirely sure what you mean - apologies for being so thick. Its the clamps that come with the motor. They look similar but not identical to the clamps in this photo. The tm clamps though have little notches in the tops and bottom of the clamp so that when you tighten the nut it grips the scaffold pole. The clamp on the motor is perfect as are the actual ubolts.

Unfortunately, I think I have overtightened the clamps attached to the pole and the nut is not catching as securely as I would like.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Handogin. I had a look at the shelley clamp earlier but you would only get one fixing on it. Need to measure the distance between the nuts as on the motor clamps they are not the same width as the pole - they are wider. I have had a look at exhaust clamps as well.

thanks for the input.

I managed to mess up the thread on the U bolt on my motor when I was installing. TM quoted me around £20 for replacement U bolts, but I went to B&Q and got these (I think, I'd have to measure it to properly be sure)

Hex Bolt Zinc Plated 6 x 100mm, 0000000004138

Search for 0000000004138 at diy.com if the link does not work.

Will these do for you?

Tony.

Mate I got some U clamps from a local car spare shop, ask for an exhaust clamp it just may fit, it did with mine anyways

Thanks once again guys really appreciate the help.

Just for clarification the actual u-bolt and thread are absolutely fine. Its the clamp that fits into the scaffold pole that has bent and that is preventing the nut and washer tightening properly. The bottom clamp is sound.

The more you tighten the closer the actual nut comes to springing from the clamp.

Skinz had a look at exhaust clamps. They look perfect but the problem is with the diameter. You can get 50mm (which fits perfectly round a scaffold pole of 48.3mm) clamp but the clamp appears to come with circa 50mm pre-drilled holes.

The u-bolt diameter for the motor is circa 90mm. If you buy a 90mm exhaust clamp then that would not fit tightly round the scaffold pole as its too big!!

I would have thought that the clamps could have been bought easily enough from that famous auction site but appears not. I think some DIY may be necessary.

Thanks again though for the help.

Hi DEANOBOY

Caravan and boat suppliers have all sorts of strange clamps.

or

You could take the bent bracket/clamp to somebody that does welding and get them to run a weld along the weak metal. But remember, the reason the clamp failed before the U-Bolt, is safety.

Better still, get them to weld the clamp to the pole. Then it wont move again.

ahhh, you mean the actual square bits with the teeth on it that the threaded rod slides through, and tightens against the pole, right?

ive got some old motors (im sure the scrap guy hasnt taken them yet) ill have a look in the morning m8
