I don't usually buy large furniture on ebay and after my first and last purchase I will only use ebay for the kack things you can't find anywhere else maybe under a few quid.

Bought a piece of new furniture, flat pack. ordered on the 23rd may. Supposed to arrive on 1-2 june. Seller never dispatched until 31st with a 3-5 day courier. So the 1-2 June delivery never or ever was going to happen and on the 5th noticed the tracking had said that my click and collect place refused item saying 'too heavy'. I used click and collect as I knew i would not be in in at time of delivery.

Contacted seller through ebay and she said' Your argos refused item to heavy' Now its not MY argos and also seller said weight was 20kg when in fact is was only 5-10kg. So her fault not mine. She went on to say that ' be aware i will send out another even though I've not received the other back yet'. Is it just me, but it sounds as if she's doing ME a favour? I feel that this is the least she could do and her whole tone was nasty.

Email back and forth through ebay and she said she would do a return and get me my money back. After 3-4 days no refund. Contacted ebay and no refund in action. Ebay then gave me a code so that I could get my money back from Paypal. I'm still waiting on my refund and I left negative feed back on her ebay and she implied that I committed fraud. She already has 3 negative in the last month and all the refund never happened or were painfully slow. So I've reported to to ebay, but not really sure anything will happen as ebay are SHIT!

All sales on eBay are tracked by eBay so all mails ect will be there as evidence for the case you will get your Money back but might take up to 90 days, in future reference try get a delivery to your door iv had a couple of things refused by agros

Don't panic. Do everything through the proper Ebay and Paypal channels. Avoid direct contact with the seller as much as possible, it just muddies the waters.

You'll get your money back.

cheers guys, just plain fooking annoying why some people do it. He's probably broke he's own then thought, fook it, I'll buy that, swap it, send it back and get paid out. I must be going soft in me old age as I just couldn't do it

I got fed up with ebay years ago. So many scams and bad sellers. these days I get most things I want through Amazon (even have an Amazon prime membership) I don't mind paying a little more to get better satisfaction. I only tend to use ebay if I can't find something anywhere else and it's something I really really can't live without.

Even cheap Chinese things I get through websites like Banggood, DealXtream, Chinavision, Lighttake, Gearbest etc. normally cheaper than ebay with the same delivery time, but I haven't been let down from them yet.

I've been using eBay for selling for 16 years and tbh it's only got bad over the past 3-4 with people saying goods damaged not received etc...

eBay always favor the buyer but they tend to forget, sellers final fee's pays the bills. The last few things I've sold have both ended with claims against me and without sounding racist, just a straight forward fact, the last few problems I've had selling on eBay and gumtree have been sent to London and the buyer has a Eastern European name.

It is such a shame when a few idiots spoil it for everyone else. The only two neg's I ever had were from scammers, trying it on as @silverdale says. I haven't sold anything for years but I do still buy quite a lot of stuff, new and used. Used stuff often does not live up to the description but I limit my bidding to take this possibility into account, unless of course it's something I really want!
I have always found the refund process (partial or full) to be slow but effective.
I much prefer eBay's site to Amazon, I will only use the latter when I absolutely have to.

@nara is right ;)

Do it all through the correct channels and you will be ok!

I for one totally disagree with you.

I think amazon is terrible. especially if you live in Ireland. if you live in the UK postage is usually free with amazon, but if you live in ireland they charge you £12.99 for P&P. to charge £12.99 to post something as small as a matchbox is a disgrace, when ebay seller would charge £1.50 at most. I often bought stuff for it to take weeks to come and has no tracking. Items have arrived weeks pasted their estimated delivery date. have items arrive and be nothing like they were describled but had no come back. The site is a mess it reminds me of yahoo all those years ago when google first came on the scene.

Also the fact that they signed me up to amazon prime last year without me realising makes me refuse to use amazon even more.

Anytime i have ever had an issue with a product on ebay. I can just contact the seller and they will rectify. The only complaints i can give about ebay is that global shipping program they have and the char limit in feedback.

I think it's more to do with 2nd hand goods and people swapping out broken parts then claiming it was knackered when it arrived.
They do this because they know that most sellers just throw the towel in and say keep it.

I guess there is always going to be people out there trying to con people.

90% of the stuff i buy on ebay is second hand. i usually feel bad as i get the things so cheap, i feel like im robbing the seller.

Got to love auctions.

Yep, me too lol! Not so long ago I bought an LP- it looked fine but really did not sound that great. BUT I got it for 99p so I hadn't the heart to request a refund or leave a neg. Similar with an old Hitachi receiver I got from the BHF charity; it arrived like the couriers had been playing rugby with it- but at £8, it was worth more to me in parts. (Still got it going though, I love a challenge!).
But don't feel like you are robbing the seller when you get stuff cheap. They had the option to list with a higher starting price or set a reserve. If it starts at 1p or 99p, they usually just want rid & would prefer someone got the benefit rather than just binning it.

First chance to day to respond to eBay so I sent pictures I took before I mailed showing no damage and squeezed into the letter my peneth worth. Hopefully they will side with me and I don't lose about £140 the thieving cheating turd

I had a claim against me , had to wait till today to challenge it with photographic evidence Ihad and low and behold the seller pulled out of his false claim. He originally said the item was broken but I make a point especially on expensive items of taking at least 20-25 detailed pictures before I mail and date them with say a newspaper underneath and my username written at the side.
As soon as I put these up he pulled out. He said the item was broken and sent a picture of another knackered item. I'm getting less and less likely to sell higher tagged items due to the amount of fraud taking place after you've mailed.

is there any thing you can do to stop this guy from doing it to someone else? like reporting him to ebay/paypal?

I dont think so, he replied with a lengthy email to me and eBay after he'd retracted his claim saying he thought I had defrauded him and how he was going to try and repair it and make it good with spares he has.
All my harse, he tried it on like many do so my advice is especially when selling mechanical or electrical items of value:-

Pick up only no returns and show them working and sign a receipt to say sold as seen,
or
Take lots of pictures and mark if possible mark with a security pen to prove its the part you sold hide the mark as well,
just date stamp everything in pictures and lots of them and don't dump them for a while,
eBay fraud is on the up, more and more try in on because as soon as they put a claim in your money is held. What you do is , don't make contact with the seller, wait for the time to pass were eBay step in the put your case (with photo's) forward to them and let them decide. If you have enough evidence you "might" win but as I stated before, eBay always favor the buyer feck knows why
