Sounds like some sort of scam, is there a number to call by any chance?

My thoughts started with the bin then the scam theory but after putting all ref nos. etc they all took me to .gov sites so thinking not scam, possibly! But as this states 'The court has made a Collection Order to collect the sum due.
Me thinks I need to talk to somebody tomorrow during office hrs for some details before considering payment.

I keep getting scam emails like this, first time I've heard of a letter! The way I see it let them come and collect £45 if its real, probably cost them more in wages sending someone round!

Still think its a scam!

P.s Oh and don't phone the number on the letter too look them up online and get the number that way.

What I was getting at was the number (if it exists) will be premium rate :).

ignore ignore ignore, They cannot enforce the debt. They had 6 years to come after you for it.

yes get advice but do not consider payment
if the car is not known it may have been scraped and i'm not sure but i think they delete it after a certain time
the other thing to mention is have you had a car like that ?
not in control sounds like a parking ticket

Have you moved house recently ??

If there is a 'Notice of collection order' - there HAS to have been a court hearing, and so you will have received a summons.
The letter should state which court issued this, so google their phone number and ask them (do NOT call a number on the letter)

Taken from national debt helpline....
"If you have made payments towards a debt where the limitation period of six years has already gone by, and no court action has already been taken, the debt is probably unenforceable "

Id ignore it...

Update: so after many many long phone conversations with many depts. ie fixed pen notice office, HM historical debts department, police and magistrate courts it appears the fine is legit! As I cannot for life of me associate the Vehcle reg to myself therefore it led me to the option 'Statutory Declaration' route. I am now awaiting a return tel. call from the local magistrate court with regards to this matter. Ladeda

Statute of limitations is plea

So after brief court appearance submitted a statutory declaration and the waiting game begins! That is now 8weeks ago I therefore presume this has gone away! And a big lol to installer (prev post).

You had me at "ignore", straight up what i was about to suggest. This is a joke..they decided to take it on 6 years later. Ermh
