Why is it everything is so bloody expensive these days, in paticular Sky Tv and Broadband :Mad2: I am currently paying £92.50 for my tv and broadband service. Can someone please tell me if it's worth it as I seem to think not. Sky crap, movies repeated every other month, sky sports also crap, as I hardly see any live coverage of Arsenal matches as most are now shown on BT Sport which I don't have.

I am currently paying Virgin media £43.50 for 150 mb broadband and telephone line.

I am currently paying sky £49 pm, for two sky plus boxes, with sports and movie package (not HD)

I currently have the opportunity to cancel both packages and start fresh, but the deals i'm looking at are very close to the £92.50 i'm currently paying.
Since when did you have to take out a phone line with virgin, people hardly use landlines anymore, i know I don't.

P.S ths is a rant. :Angryfire

I stopped watching TV for quite a while because of repeats and adverts (six~eight minutes into the start of Salvage Hunter...). I figured out the times of adverts on freeview so I could switch off and found they get about 30s longer each time throughout the hour. Probably because they have worked out that people are less likely to want to miss the end of programs.

Then I discovered Kodi, which took some time getting used to as I wasn't used to selecting what I watched whenever I wanted. It's still a bit odd but far, far better than repeats and adverts :).

Not sure when you took out VM BB but I don't think a phoneline was ever a requirement.

Because you're willing to pay for a service(SKY), that you yourself admit is crap. I have to ask...why?

Ditch the Evil Empire for starters.

i would love to ditch both of them if i could. robbing bastards the lot of them.

Why don't you ditch them?

The last time I paid £50 a month to watch tv was when the spice girls were number one in the charts.
Get the rubbish out.
Theres other options out there.
I seen you posted about a VU box. Start from there.

Also I pay £28 a month for 150meg but no landline.
Remember vermin media offer broadband without landline. Who uses landlines nowadays anyway.
Seems like your getting roasted @tlogic mate.

If you need to have the services (but I don't understand needing both sky broadband and Virgin broadband) then use a site like topcashback as well to get some money back too.

Personally I'd cancel sky and set up a new account as new customers get better deals (including a tv if you want).

I pay just under 50 for my tv and broadband but once the contract is out I'll cancel then just order the broadband and leave the tv package off as its not worth it. I would've left the tv last year only I got 150 cashback plus 75 on my sky account so didn't mind getting the package

How you manage that m8. I've tried and can't get any where near that.

I pay £39 quid a month for 200 meg and the phone. That price is for the next 12 months

I understand needing a really high speed BB connection from the old days of Torrents and newsgroups as you need to download it all before you can start watching it, but with Kodi and streaming TV 15-20 meg on ADSL does the job quite happily.

As to Sky TV, for the price of 3 months you can build a PC with OpenElec (kodi) ad a DVB-s2 card and a Nline, an additional android box with Kodi (to give Sky Multiroom). Only issue is no Sky HD but to be fair that does not overly bother me

I rung them when my contract was up and said "I'm giving 28 days notice to cancel broadband"
They asked why I was wanting to leave and told them "BT doing better deal"
At that time I was on 100meg and cost £31.
Now its £28 on 150meg. Now I got a letter saying a price increase of £3 next month.
To be honest they are getting to expensive. When I joined them a few years ago and my bill was £16 a month on 50meg. From next month that will doubled over a few years.
Im sure we would all love are wages to double in as many years.

Try paying for it in Ireland, crap speeds if you dont live on top of exchange and top $$
